He actually studied every single game he referenced, down to the core. Doing this properly requires understanding how the original system was made, not just winging it.

It depends. Its all about what the person feels and enjoys about that author's mugen version over the original console/arcade version of that same character. To me its mostly opinion and preference when it comes to Mugen. Clearly not all creations are better than the source in mugen. Though you cant really compare those two UNLESS that creator was aiming to create that same character again as it was in the source but without the bugs and hang ups it had. Thats the 1up mugen engine gives creators over the source game engines. Mugen creators can look at where the originators had flaws and totally fix that stuff in the character on the fly.

But if you mean as far as creativity and ideas in game play then thats on the person's taste. Two great Examples of that kind of "Mugen Gem" i can honestly say i like better than the original are Pots Ryu or Geese compared to the CVS2 versions by Capcom. I liked Pots versions way better the moment i tried them out. Its like those characters are the polished versions of what capcom could have done in development. Thats how i look at all that for my tastes.

Mhh maybe some Chars are better that the original creation, but some characters can never be better that the originals because of the limitations of the engine, until the limitations are lifted, or the community finds workarounds that become a coding standard.

And don't for get for every good Mugen Char exist at least one Evil/Shin/Orochi/Dark/God version or a "Evil Shin Orochi Dark God" version that is realy terrible. :laugh3:

I for one feel certain God etc characters are badass. One of my all time favorites is God Rival (Lord of the flies). I also like God Ryu. I also like Holy Ken too even tho he is broken as hell.
