Following a pattern established by previous Assassin's Creed launches, the PC version of Assassin's Creed 3 has been delayed.

The PC version had been due out alongside the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions on 31st October. It will now launch on 23rd November 2012.

Eurogamer was tipped off about the delay by a publishing source who supplied the above promotional image to our Czech Republic cousins at Eurogamer.cz.

Ubisoft has a habit of delaying the launch of PC versions of its multiplatform games. The PC version of Assassin's Creed: Revelations was delayed by half a month, and the PC version of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood launched in March 2011 after a November 2010 console release.

Most gamers believe these PC specific delays are the result of concern at Ubisoft over piracy, although the French publisher is yet to admit this.

Ubisoft told Eurogamer: "The Windows PC release date is still to be announced."

Here at Comic-Con 2012, Ubisoft just unveiled a new co-op mode for Assassin's Creed III called Wolfpack. True to its name, Wolfpack sets a team of players wild on a map full of NPC's, taking out a series of targets in a race against the clock. In fact, it's that race that makes this new mode feel like an altogether unique chapter in the world of Assassin's Creed

Wolfpack is, in a word, fast. You begin a round with a fixed amount of time, and once your team takes out its first target (or group of targets, in most cases) you get more time added to the clock. So right off the bat, there's a strong incentive to keep things moving and string your kills together as quickly as possible.

We were sent this image (below) over the weekend, reportedly a little note sent out by Ubisoft to GameStop stores patting them all on the back for their stellar efforts in bugging enough of you into preordering a game that they hit a quota.

After that's done, though, we're told that Ubisoft has formed a team specifically to create post-release DLC for Assassin's Creed III, and that there'll be enough of it to warrant some kind of "season pass" being sold for the game which would presumably entitle purchasers to a discount rate for buying all of it at once.

No mention of whether it's singleplayer, multiplayer or both, but seeing as the series has had some success releasing decent singleplayer DLC with Assassin's Creed II, hopefully it's something more substantial than just maps and skins for multiplayer.
