Assert Failure in Input-lb.c line 99

Hey guys, whats goin on.

Okay, so I had a problem with my older version of MUGEN (.76 is what it says on the title screen) and it was the infamous "assert failure" response.

Thing is, I figured out what makes it crap out and send you back to the desktop, at least for me.  For some reason, if player 1 or 2's joystick type is set to "auto" or even the other settings, like 4 or 8, the game pops up the message and boots you off.

I dont know how to fix this problem, and I never had it before on my windows XP computer.  I am running 7 now, and it refuses to work.  However, on a friend of mine's computer (also running 7) I put the program on, the game settings were the same, but it did not crash.

Any thoughts or opinions on this?  I'd love to be able to play the game again.
Glad to be of service if I can!

Does it pop up the message as Mugen starts, or only when a fight starts ?
Did you try reinstalling a fresh Mugen ? It may come from the screenpack you're using.

I don't have any experience with this issue, but if the above suggestion doesn't work you could consider using something like Joy2Key to independently map keys to your joypad (rather than configuring through Mugen)

It would do it when the window would first appear.  It was an issue with the actual controller plugins for the game itself, I think.  But you were right!  Plugging in my stuff to a fresh Mugne program did the trick!  And upgrading to the new 1.0 version actually makes all my characters look so much better!

Ive heard you can do that, but I havent found anything like that on the net yet.  But thats okay, I resolved the issue!  :)
