What decides who the "author" of a character is?
I found some good characters on line, but then I:
• Edited most/all states
• Created new states/sprites/anims/moves/systems
• Put them in a full game
• Coordinated the characters

So does that make me the author or not?
If I am, do I have to credit the original author?  :sugoi:
If I'm not, do I get any credit in any way?         :-\

While you don't have to give credit, it's generally a good idea if you want to be on good terms with the community. I wouldn't give any hint that something not done by me is really by me.

The original authors are always going to be the original authors. You could just say edited by (yourname). You could just give credit to anybody whose work you used to insure that everything will be okay.

Edit: Rajaa's got faster fingers  :P

But as was already said:
You have created an edit.

You can list yourself as the author, but it's only polite to credit the original author.

Well (just from what I've seen around) if you just edited a character, then you should be just the editor of it.

Those normally get posted here: http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?board=346.0

However if you edited some character heavily and maybe this character was even opensource or you had permission to edit it or something, sometimes you could still be called the author of it and could be kept at the your releases section.

And yeah, better give corresponding credit from all that you used, specially at the readmes, the DEF file and the release threads.

Okay, thanks a lot everyone.
I'm just going to put editor for me. I also hate to take more credit than I deserve. Having said that, I'm pretty sure this one is (solved)  8) I'm going to kill the thread now.

Oh yeah, I don't know how to, If i can, please pm me how... or if not, maybe one of you moderators can for me... and still if not... then I'll just let it float  ::)
