Unless it's being developed by Rocksteady, I'll pick it up on sale or not at all. I'm not paying 60 dollars for another Arkham City expansion pack.

And what would you like to see in the next Arkham game? AC is quite hard to beat when it comes to controls. AO as similar as it was to AC, it was still quite an enhanced version, gadget and control wise. AA was pretty barebones so it was easy to improve upon. The only thing I hated in AO was how they fucked up with the proximity explosion upgrade.

I don't think we can expect a really different AND improved version of Arkham series gameplay at this po I thought this info was leaked by Batman's VA months ago already.

At the very least, I'd like to see less reused assets. The courthouse and sewers and such are one thing, but when I go into Crime Alley, for instance, and they've STILL got the chalk outline of the Waynes with the rose and there's no reason in game for that to be there it just screams lazy.

But honestly, I don't think it's out of line to expect a two player campaign at this point. There's no sense in not doing it other than not wanting to do some extra work and maybe taking some extra time on it. I can understand if WB Montreal's got pressure to crank these out every year like the Assassin's Creed franchise, but I don't pay 60 dollars to play those either. So that's how it's going to be with Batman.

Yeah, a coop campaign would definitely be an awesome addition. AO's multiplayer mode is actually pretty fun when you play as Batman or Robin and have to play cooperatively with another vigilante against the rest of the players. I hate playing as the gangs though.

They won't even have Paul Dini on this one, and Arkham City's writing and story was already kinda dicey even with him around!

And also Hush is the absolute worst!!!

Someone is definitely NOT happy here with this plan. I don't know too much about Hush, but the premise is sort of odd to me.. I mean, why would someone graft a perfect replica of your friend's face outside of sullying the family name?

Hell, what does this doc have against the Waynes anyway?

Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, Jmorphman: I'm guessing there are far worst arcs out there for Batman.

The whole face transplant thing actually came after Hush's first storyarc (in Batman: Hush). That was basically just a mystery of "who is Hush?!?!?!" (could it be the just introduced and never before mentioned childhood friend of Bruce Wayne? Turns out yes!) interspersed with cover versions of Batman's greatest hits (Batman fights Superman! Batman fights all his villains! Batman makes out with Catwoman! Batman has Jason Todd angst!), but all done exceedingly shittily.

Dini wrote the face transplant stuff and it wasn't exactly good but it at least was trying, I guess (and also Catwoman had her heart taken out for some reason?). Still a pretty awful character even with that added hook of wanting to be Bruce Wayne.

Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, Jmorphman: I'm guessing there are far worst arcs out there for Batman.
Oh of course, but Hush remains inexplicably popular and liked by some people (I think it has lost a lot of its initial luster over the years, though)

Bruce Wayne is actually Hush who is Joker in disguise who is actually Jason Todd in disguise

/script

In seriousness, if he showed up in the original Hush story he's likely to appear in this one. All I know about Hush is it's some former friend of Bruce Wayne who suddenly decides "Fuck Bruce Wayne" And then telling Batman "Fuck Bruce Wayne" And then useless shit happens and Hush still looks like Bruce Wayne in the end. And I ain't readin that shit.

If I remember correctly, Hush's origin story is that he was a spoiled rich kid who tried to kill his parents, but then Bruce Wayne's dad saved their lives because he was a doctor and that's what doctors do, so Hush swore revenge on the Wayne family as a whole for no discernible reason, so he became a plastic surgeon and makes himself look like Bruce Wayne and does a bunch of pointless shit, including literally stealing Catwoman's heart by surgery-ing it out of her chest in a way that doesn't actually kill her somehow, that never amounted to anything because it turns out that his entire deal was that he was really just working for Riddler the whole time.

In short, Hush is literally the worst.

Turns out it's Batman: Arkham Knight. Featuring drivable Batmobile!!! And no Hush in sight!!! WHOOOOOOO

not really a fan of the new Batsuit (I'm gonna blame this on New 52 even though it's entirely possible Rocksteady wasn't forced by DC to take design cues from that Batsuit). Also not really a fan of the Batmobile, but hey maybe they'll include alternate models like they do costumes? I wanna drive the Burton Batmobile as BTAS Batman!

Also really wish they'd stop using that awful harley Quinn design

Batman has so many villains they could populate it whole with pratically unknowns.

If they do one within the whole city, it would be interesting to see Man Bat

I kinda sortof would like to see batzarro but I doubt he would be easy for gaming fans to swallow.

I'm just worried about this becoming yet another yearly release assembly line franchise.  Asylum and City were both amazing, but I didn't even bother trying Origins because it looked so insanely generic and uninspired.  I'd rather see one great game every three or four years than one mediocre cash-in every couple of months.

Apparently origins was bad and city was already a step back, so I really hope they get it together with this one.

Pretty trailers as usual, but that does not actually amount for anything since it's not even gameplay.

You were right in your assumption. They even saw fit to tinker with the combat and removing key invincibility frames that allowed you to properly bounce around and maneuver as well as making enemies slide around much more frequently to hit you out of combos. It was so bad they lowered the overall combo achievement to 50x.

It also had some of the worst side quest out of the entire series and the collectibles were retardly uninspired.

I hear Blackgate and its Metroidvania likeness is pretty cool though. Looking forward to playing it later this month.

That bad?  I pretty much zoned out on the game after I found out they had shoehorned in a team based gun combat multiplayer mode, which in addition to missing the entire point of what anybody actually wants in a Batman game is basically the ultimate trademark of pointless, soulless cash-grab games.

I feel like I'm one of the few who actually welcomed the challenge the fights and boss battles have in AO. Hard mode NG+ is quite difficult and the boss battles were pretty cool (I actually DIED a few times in some of them). It makes even more sense if you think about it. You're not the Batman from AA or AC, you're a younger and probably weaker version and the fact that every enemy in the game actually represent a threat is quite fun. Heck even the Riddler collectibles made a bit more of sense too, I can't complain.

Multiplayer mode which is completely optional and still lets you play as Batman and Robin. What do you expect gang members to do? Use gadgets like Batman? Of course they're going to use guns (And this isn't even the first time we see a FPS Batman game).

I actually quite ignored the mode though. I play the game with a controller so I find it more fun to be Batman and takedown the other players. Actually taking down other enemies who are actually controlled by humans is pretty fun but yeah, I do hate playing as the gang members but it's not a terrible mode.

Quote
Last Batman game for Rocksteady, will work on something totally new next.
There will be a brand new villain, something made by Rocksteady that they say will be the ultimate test for Batman
Batmobile can be called at any moment with a button.
The city streets are much wider to allow for the batmobile. You will rocket jump off ramps and do all sorts of cool maneuvers.
You can eject jump out of the batmobile right into a super fast glide straight through the glass of a building to knock out enemies. They said glass breaking will be a big new thing.
New moves include being able to use all your gadgets during flight. You now have a counter throw where you counter a guy and throw him into another guy. A new quick ground takedown. A quick backflip where you then throw a batarang in an enemies face.
For the predator sections you can now chain takedowns of up to four enemies. For instance pop out of a grate and take one guy, jump to the next and so on. You can now enter grates from a distance, he will automatically do a jump or roll to enter them.
Riddler challenges seem to be car based. The first one has you enter a sort of Riddler race track where you have to activate walls and ramps, when you activate one another closes so as you drive you have to be constantly turning on and off these ramps as you navigate the course.
Batmobile fires missles and stun guns. It destroys anything it touches so if you bump into cars the cars go flying. It's basically unstoppable.
Story is that after Joker's death all the criminals decided to work together and their plan comes together this night where they plan to kill batman. The article talks mostly about Scarecrow, he scattered bombs throughout Gotham.
Oracle will play a larger role, you get to visit her base and talk to her, tons of batman easter eggs included.
Kevin Conroy is Batman, all the previous voice actors are back.
Gothom City is 5 times bigger than AC. Split into 3 areas. NO LOAD TIMES at all, entering buildings is seemless.
They spend a bunch of time talking about how detailed the models are, one character has more polygons than the environment of Asylum.
Batman will start off with the old batsuit and upgrade at some point in the game.
It says it is running on their modified Unreal engine.

Quote
    - All quickfire gadgets can now be used during flight.
    - Combat tweaks (note: Not enough time to go over these in detail. for example, you can throw by tilting left towards the opponent and hitting counter)
    - did I mention the screenshots are gorgeous?
    - Arkham Knight isn't just the name of the game.. it's also the name of the [new] villain.
    - Fear Takedowns. ie, burst out of grate, action slows down allowing you to target another goon for another attack and so on. Can be used on groups up to 3 as long as they're close enough together and no one has already spotted Batman.
    - They seem to try to tackle the old school Arkham issue of "open door - black screen loading"
    - The game looks gorgeous. Huge.
-"This is a single-player game. There is no multiplayer."
    - You can launch into a fast glide from the Batmobile just like the trailer.

-No more pre-rendered cinematics everything is done in engine
-The larger riots can have up to 50 people flipping cars and looting stores.

    Characters
-Things such as Gordon's trench coat and Batman's cape now have Apex cloth physics. They react realistically to changes in wind and movement
-When it rains rains bead of water run down Batman's suit tracing every groove
-The wrinkles on Gordon's face crinkle as he talks

    The City
-The city is as detailed as ever with realistic moving clouds with the moon shining through
-Halloween characters and balloons litter the street adding a creepy vibe
-Neon signs of the various shops shine brightly around the city
-The skyline has helicopters and blimps flying through it
-Steam puffs out of the sewers in a realistic way

I don't know what people expect of a Harley design honestly. Her original design in the show was never anything to write home about, and I've always thought of her as the Joker's slut even back then. Seems like natural progression, the only thing I don't like about new designs is the emphasis on the black/blue and red, but even that I can get over

Even if it was the "natural progression" (it's not! she's not the Joker slut, she's his abused girlfriend), that's still a shitty reason to take away everything from her old design and replace it with boring grungy stuff.

Hey, I actually like City Harley.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a Harley design; some people look for the domino mask, I look for the form-hugging clothes.  Asylum and Knight both have skirts, Asylum has a lot I don't like about it but that's the one problem I have with Knight.  It's like putting a loincloth on Catwoman, you just don't do it.

Yeah, the Batmobile had guns in the two worst adaptations of Batman on the big screen.  Really any time a parallel can be drawn to Tim Burton's interpretation of Batman should be a giant warning flag that you're doing Batman wrong.

Although, I think the bigger issue is that in the background of that trailer you can see something referencing a Gotham City Halloween Parade, which I think we can all agree is pretty much the worst idea anybody could ever have.

I'm reading these words and they all make sense individually, but putting them all together in one sentence just doesn't make any amount of sense. Just a whole bunch of nonsense. :noo:

But uh yeah like Speedpreacher said the Tumbler and the Batpod had big ol' machine guns, and I think the Bat also had some mounted but I don't actually remember them actually being used. And the machine guns are actually absent entirely from Returns. So, four movies, I guess. As long as he isn't shooting up mooks and actually killing them I don't really see the problem (at least for this incarnation of Batman). Although even then it still seems pretty weird, kinda. I dunno.

Story Packs suggest campaigns with cutscenes like the Initiation DLC for Origins.

So toy pics are already out for Red Hood and they show him wearing the bucket under his hood. If no one's been a super cool guy and posted it by the time I get off work I'll update this post.

Just having a hoodie is silly because the whole point of the character is to emulate the look of the criminal Red Hood. Having a hoodie over the bucket is silly for purely aesthetic reasons.

They should've done one or the other, doing both just looks bad, from a design standpoint, without taking into account the existing character history.

I personally feel that him wearing a having a red-hooded hoodie is just overly silly and literal but it kinda fits with their aesthetic (like the Penguin's monocle, or Batman's new Iron Man armor) so hey, why not? But doing both is dumb and looks tacky!
