[BETA V0.2.7]

Hello everyone! I know it has been quite a while, but I have something to share with you. After quite a wait (I apologize) The latest release is here, with a few more additions than were planned as a thank you for all those who have been patient and supportive as we worked.

Info:
This version only has arcade at the moment, more on that later.

Content and Updates:
-Mugen 1.1 engine base-
-Dynamic Stage Zoom-
-MAX Combo Limit (Basic Moves)-
-Wall Bounce System on certain hard hitting moves-

MAX Combo Limit:
Depending on a character's current level, there will be a maximum number of normal standing/crouching each player can use in a combo. (aerial, special and super moves are excluded from this limit) The more power you have, the higher your combo potential.

Now, for those of you who have followed this project since the beginning, the absence of these features may be concerning. We assure you, they have not been forgotten, and will not be left behind. We just wanted to make sure that all of these features were working as perfectly and as polished as possible, and at this moment did not feel like they were quite to the standard we can bring you now. For this reason they were left out of this release, but will return in subsequent releases. We apologize, but felt you had waited long enough and wanted to go ahead and get this latest version out as soon as possible.

These two happened after pressing left and right multiple times before the announcer says FIGHT!, for some reason it stayed like this. Granted, it didn't happen all the time, and I only found this with Shin Akum LVL.2 so I'm not even sure if this is in other characters, but I think you should look into it.

I like how you guys captured the old MK feel with the combos and stuff, twas really fun playing as Sagat and Shin Akuma LVL.2. :yes:

Okay, that one is a bit new to me. Is there a certain mode this is occurring in?

As I mentioned before, I was playing on Arcade Mode. Unless by mode you mean difficulty, I was on Medium3 (because I suck at games, LOL).

Just downloaded this as it got me a bit intrigued. It's gonna take me a while to get used to the A.I. All I'll say now is that the way this project is going with the great animations and gameplay, its great. Edit the main menu a bit, and it might become biblical.

How is it that, despite being a member of the development team (well, I wrote a whole bunch of story, at least), I completely forgot how the gameplay of this thing works? :P

Anyways, pretty awesome work so far? Could do with a movelist, because there's a few commands that I forgot about until I downloaded an older version of the character. And the stage zoom caused a bug with one of Chameleon's supers, where the ice froze the enemy but the super didn't activate - you may look into how the stage zoom affects things. And also there was that game-breaking bug with Kung Lao someone else mentioned. But other than that, can't wait for the next upate! :)

Yeah, the AI is something I'm still working on. It does scale though, it's just set to level 8 by default. Gotta munch those quarters. As for the main menu, I believe Firelord is still looking to add more to it as time goes on.

For this version there will only be bug fixes in any patches that come, but I guarantee that 0.3 will be coming much faster with many of those features returning.

Well, I merely booted up Kung Lao in training mode, and immediately got the error message and MUGEN would close. I'm pretty sure you guys need to double-check that code at some point, because I'm pretty sure a character isn't meant to do that :P

As for the Chameleon thing, it happens when Chameleon is as far away from the enemy as possible - at least, as far back as the stage zoom will allow. You might need to check the behaviour of that and related Supers in the future, because the stage zoom would definitely screw that over.

Yeah I already caught that one, I just misnumbered a CMD trigger. I haven't reuploaded just yet.

Just fixed this one as well. With 1.1 the stage was expanding to such a length that the projectile was actually hitting after Chameleon had exited the state he needed to be in to continue the rest of the super. I'll definitely be looking for it though.

Oops, that was something I did for stage testing purposes and forgot about.  :wall: Will fix. And does it? I don't believe anything was changed in the config. I'll look into it.

Well. In 0.2.7 we have the following problem, which need to be fixed immediately:
1. Kung Lao doesn't work at all.
2. Scorpion can jump infinitely.
3. The time limit works (In 0.1 and 0.2 it doesn't).
Plus some problems which people wrote about above.
So, how long we need to wait for a patch?

Another mistake from the movelist:
Ryu
Tenma Gou Zankuu: HCB+HP+HK (AIR)(Level 2)

Yet gameplay-wise it is Level 3.

Scorpion
Teleport Punch: QCB+P

You forgot to put (AIR OK) - you can do his teleport punch in both, air and ground.

There is also some glitch - when Scorpion uses Hell Fire to absorb projectiles, the one who threw this projectile burns as well (tested against Ryu and Akuma).

Well. In 0.2.7 we have the following problem, which need to be fixed immediately:

I've fixed all of these and except for the time issue and was waiting for Firelord's help with re-moleboxing everything, but I'll probably just handle it myself.

As for the time, it's still set to infinite in both the screenpack and the mugen.cfg so I'm not certain what the issue is. I'll look at it.

I'll get the movelist mistakes fixed. As for the Hell Fire thing, do you mean that it still can hit after destroying a projectile? If so, that's intentional.

I'll get the infinite stage glitches and any I haven't yet corrected and re-upload. Patch should be done and ready to download in about 2 hours max.

I mean Scorpion's Hell Fire absorbs the projectile, and the one who threw this projectile burns design-wise (gameplay-wise Hell Fire doesn't harm him). For example - when Scorpion absorbs Ryu's Hadoken, his Hadoken disappears, but Ryu himself burns like he is a projectile himself (but gameplay-wise as I said it doesn't affect him). This is probably because in this engine the projectile is always a part of the character, even though it looks like a projectile.

Well, I've just been following this project for many years and tried to get as much info as possible (since this project is one of my favorite things in video gaming in general). Edited it out of my post.

So I've finished testing it, and the only bad thing I've noticed is that Scorpion's roundhouse disappeared. I press B+HK, but he does the regular st.HK. But it plays awesome now - unlike 0.2 it isn't like in every single place there is a big bug which breaks the game, so great job. And I still somehow could cancel Chameleon's QCFx2+P super (but it isn't that easy to do now - I've done it 1 time out of 10).

I found a small problem with the powerbar.
It seems like powerbar is behind the pillar.

Is this real to fix?
P.S. - I have some questions about gameplay.
1. Ice Clones of Chameleon don't need a powerbar. It's feature or not? (By the way, add Ice Clones in the movelist)
2. Spin of Kung Lao doesn't absorb projectiles. It's feature or not?
3. I think the input of 'Spear' of Scorpion and Chameleon (← → + P) is better than (← ← + P). It's more comfortable. Why did you change it?
4. About taunts. All SF character have taunts, but Chun-Li have different input ('Start' instead of 'High Punch' + 'High Kick'). So is it necessary?
Also I noticed that all characters have win poses. Except 'Scorpion'. Will it be fixed in the next patch?
P.P.S. - More feedback for me. I found some part of the old lifebar.

It appears when I do super 'Teleport Beatdown'.
That's not all. I noticed that all supers of Chameleon are cancellable, which brings to game-breaking.

Also when I played 'Arcade mode' I found a bug - I used Chameleon and fought Ryu, and when I froze him while Ryu threw me, Ryu was frozen and Chameleon was stuck - I pressed all the buttons but Chameleon wasn't able to move + bot couldn't hit me.

I'm not sure on this one. My understanding was that they were supposed to require half a bar to initiate.

It's not supposed to. Light version is a multi-hit launcher, medium is an anti-air, and heavy is a combo ender.

3. I think the input of 'Spear' of Scorpion and Chameleon (← → + P) is better than (← ← + P). It's more comfortable. Why did you change it?
We're planning to make this configurable via a text file.

4. About taunts. All SF character have taunts, but Chun-Li have different input ('Start' instead of 'High Punch' + 'High Kick'). So is it necessary
Start is the button for movelists, though they have been temporarily removed.

I found some missing sprites of Sagat and Chun-Li.


In the first screenshot I did the 'Choke Combination' super move.
In the second screenshot I did the 'Spear Barrage' super move, but with the 'Spear' special move (B, B + Light Punch) Chun-Li doesn't have sprites too. Same goes to Reptile.

The LK version of Sliding Elbow can be linked to another LK version of this move infinite times. It's pretty hard to do, but it's possible.

I hope you will fix all the bugs and glitches that we found including my #31 post.
About A.I.. In 'Hard 8' several characters fight like in 'Easy 1'. It's Reptile, Kung Lao and Chun Li.
And don't forget about fix the Scoipion's roundhouse.

Works only with the LP version of Forceball.
P.S. Why does the ground freeze of Chameleon make a character to be in stun pose?
P.P.S Chun-Li has 2 missing sprites after getting hit by Shinkuu Hadouken of Ryu or Akuma.
P.P.P.S  The 'Teleport Windmill' super of Kung Lao has no damage.
P.P.P.P.S You still didn't add Ice Clones of Chameleon in the Movelist.

Now I think we have caught as many bugs as possible. If you fix all these bugs and issues then v0.2.7 will be in the perfect condition, in my opinion.)

si no me equiboco el usuario ErmacOwnedYou esta inactivo desde 2011 y seria una lastima que se desperdicen sus sprites, ya que mkvssf funciona con 6 botones encuentro una patada interesante, una nueva poses de mano en el fuego del aire y   el gancho en llamas con una bicilcleta invertida seria un buen super, te dejo el link para que veas los sprites si te interesan

We will release another bugfix patch first. If there are significant bugs encountered on that release, we will release another patch, and so on. Hopefully this one patch will be enough, though.

Yea that should be enough. Even if there will be some bugs left in the next bugfix patch, they can be mostly pulled off in the training mode, not in real battles. There is a few game-breaking bugs which we already mentioned and only one infinite (Reptile's one).

Also, there is some strange effect when forceballs of Reptile and Chameleon collide. This is the same problem what SvSam357 was talking about in #20, 22 posts.

Chameleon is the most glitch character in the 0.2.7 version..

Why are Chun-Li's Down+MK (air) and Down+HK (air) not mentioned in the movelist? I would consider them the Command Normals. Also there is a bug of Reptile: Being close to the corner (but not in the corner itself) after the QCBx2+P super you should do the QCFx2+P super immediately, and his opponent will move to the higher position (he will stand on the air). I can post a video if needed.

Chun-Li's MK (diagonal jump) doesn't hit the opponent.

Akuma's Shadow Tenmakujinkyaku: QCB,QCB+K super is unfinished. Do it in the corner and you'll see why - not all 5 hits get landed, and the opponent disappears after the super for a couple seconds.

Definitely not a false positive. I actually saw the trojan in action. No other suspicious downloads that day. No other problems detected by Windows Defender. And I had no further issues after removing your files.

We haven't received any report of this sort in over a month since we made the game available to the public. It can't be the culprit. There must be a core problem hiding in your system that infected the game. Try downloading it on another system and see if it gives you the same outcome (maybe try a virtual machine or a spare pc you got lying around) and see if you get the same results (this time, give me screenshots if that's the case). If not, then, again, it's something else stuck in your system. I suggest you give it a scan with Malwarebytes AntiMalware, but since you're running Windows Defender, exclude Malwarebytes from its list, because a quick search told me those two might conflict.

It turned out Kung Lao also has an infinite, but it isn't a full infinite like Reptile's one where you can land an infinite amount of hits, Kung Lao's one is impossible to be continued once the MAX Combo Limit is reached, but before it is reached, he can still land a solid amount of hits and thus deal a lot of damage (more than 50%). Kung Lao's kicks are jumpcancellable, right? And you can combo after the LK version of his Divekick, right? So this means you can do st.HK, then jumpcancel it and then do an LK version of the Divekick, then you can link it into a HK, jumpcancel it again and do an LK Divekick again and so on until the MAX Combo Limit is reached. If the MAX Combo Limit is 11 hits, this combo can be 22 hits (11 kicks and 11 divekicks). Deals more than 50% of damage even on Reptile and Sagat whose health is 1050, let alone Akuma.

Guys, i just created an account to say this: I just recalled of my old compilation of Andy's mugen characters that i just piled up together in a mugen with some basic stages and some basic music and i played it a bit and i felt great, then i felt like checking this out to reminisce, and when i saw that you guys came back to this project, i was overjoyed! -Which air forceball are you using when you uppercut an opponent into it (Reptile, last bug)?
-Which grab are you using? a+x or b+y?

EDIT:

NOTE: All the bugs that are missing in the following list are mostly Firelord's area!

-Fixed Scorpion not having a winpose
-Fixed "stun" animation from Chameleon's freeze attack
-Fixed Reptile's ground harpoon hurt animation
-Fixed Sagat's missing general sprites
-Fixed hurt animations for Ryu's and Akuma's Shinkuu Hadouken
-Fixed no damage bug from Chameleon's throw
-Fixed no damage bug from Kung Lao's super throw
-Fixed Chun Li's missing with neutral jump HP, also found other hitdef bugs and fixed those as well
-Fixed Reptile's Light Elbow linking into itself and restored it to its former purpose, where he used it to chain into normals
-Fixed Kung Lao's Diving Kick infinite (he can no longer hit standing opponents twice with Light Diving Kick if they are still stunned from the first one)
-Fixed Reptile's Rush Super issues with positioning and managed to force opponent to stand from air
-Fixed Chameleon's super in the corner
-Fixed Akuma's super in the corner

I'm still waiting to hear from you regarding the last displayed bug with the uppercut-forceball-grapple thing. In the meantime, Firelord will fix the rest and you let me know if you find anything else. After that, guess it's time for 0.2.7.1.2.
