when i'm at the char select screen and select my char and then the versus screen shows its says error command 42 name not in quotes? can u help me (i know what's doing it , it is my char that i'm trying to get to work. how do i do it

Try going into the character's select.def file and look for name and display name, (should be near the top) like this:

name = "Character Name Here"        ;Name of character
displayname = "Character Name Here" ;Name of character to display

the 'name' line will show your charcter's name in the select screen.
the 'displayname' line is what your char's name will show as during a fight.

Make sure the names are included with " at start and end.
