Hello, everyone. In this thread you will be nominating characters from the month of March that you feel are worthy to be recognized as Character of the Month. These nominations last until April 15th.

I will create a comprehensive list of the nominations progress every couple of days or so; the list will include: Who's a candidate and how many motions other characters have. If twenty candidates are reached before the 15 days are up, then voting will start early. Feel free to create the list yourself if you feel like it.

people should be restricted to a certain number of nominations, otherwise they pretty much nominate everything, it's quite weird to see up to 8 nominations on a single post, and the user may post again nominating even more  --;

What about a template about how to post here? Because to be honest it's quite easier if we use numbers instead of words to indicate how many nominations a character has, something like:

that would be fine by me, and it's quite easy to keep track of the number instead of having to read the beggining of every nomination carefully.

Why don't you change the rules a bit then? Like the 10 characters with more nominations get to the voting phase or liit the amount of characters people can nominate.

Call me a purist, but when I read the word 'update' I think significant bugfixes, some new moves, or a bunch of other genuine improvements to the character.  These guys' 'updates' were just ports to 1.0.

Yeah, I know. But I don't make the rules.

IMO updates shouldn't count EVEN if they were big improvements.

That way, the same character shouldn't be able to win 2 or more COTM.

I wouldn't consider that a infinite since you have to make your opponent bounce of the wall and if you do it on the wrong side of the stage the stage interaction would activate.

If a character is upgraded the following month and enters competition, it wont be going to voting if it already won in a past month?
People can better their efforts and make better versions of their characters to attempt to get the community attention?

Pots ryu didnt start off as being the best ryu in mugen, it had several versions before.

If my character sucks day one, and it's not nominated because it sucks, then I improve it later during a different month by updating it, do I not deserve to have my character potentially be recognized in this contest like anyone else's character?

It is fair to allow updates. It's unfair to not allow updates. If I specified and said, "Only significant updates," then what would a significant update be? That's why it's better the way it is.

A character can win twice, meaning: If I release a character one month and it wins, then I update it another month and it wins, then that's it; no more winning for that character. This is to recognize updates. Think of it as being an American President: you can only serve two terms (I need to adjust my wording on that particular portion of the rules).

Even if it's only to provide 1.0 compatibility?  GM's characters were already solid, it wasn't as if they were broken before.  I'm all for nominating updates, but these are just ports.
