Choosing and Setting Var

Uh mm... I'm thinking about it but I can't think any idea "how" it is.
How do you choose what to set for the value of a Var in the start of the round(while the intros of players in progress)...
It's like there was some explod and it changes when you press "down" or "up".
It's like you're choosing Grooves like in warusaki's CVS players.
Oops I think it's too complicated. Sorry.
