Am I the only one who would much prefer to see one of the girls from SF3?

Makoto, Elena or Ibuki would be better then Karin or R. Mika since they don't really have any equivalents in SF4. And lets face it they're really aren't any equivalents to Makoto.

man... i wouldn't say failure. SF3 is like "Blade Runner". it was not a instant hit, and even despised in its release, but as people had their time with it, it achieved "cult" status. its not something for your everyday joe.

BTW, Chun-li and Sakura will have their face models updated.

We wouldn't be doing that if there weren't those others we quote. Anyway, I was more targetting the "am I the only one" part, when there have been several people saying exactly that before through the course of this topic. No, you're not the only one, dammit.

yes i do. the fact that a 10 year old game is still played competitively until this day, even tough everyday gamer does not even acknowledges its existence does confirm what i said. it is simply is that.

BTW, we should all expect the "wait. there was a SF3?" question after release day.

Pretty much. Most of the people I grew up with playing SF2, don't know there's a SF3 and a SF4 in development. I didn't know about SF3 until 2004.

Comparing sf3 to blade runner is too much, at best it can be compared to dune: only fans of the genre know about it and even just a few of those have bothered with it.

I actually agree with you (and guess what, I like Dune too!  :D )

but i always felt that getting to master "parry" was similar to getting who the 4th replicant is.
not everyone get it. but once you do, everything changes.

No because EVO has SF3, and you can't get higher level than them  8)

that was intentional.

the only good thing about 3S was the character designs. (2I did a much better job on the graphics and sound.)

and what makes you think 3S is good?

who mentioned "3S" specifically? I said "SF3" as in "Street Fighter 3". I've never defined as "SF3: 3S" or "SF3: NG" or "SF3:2I".

I'm talking about the series as a whole or maybe, due to mentioning the release impact, SF3:NG.

Answering your questions:

1) have no idea. I've never been to an EVO. the closest thing i'v seen was that Daigo Video (in which Chun-li was featured). and i've found a SF3 arcade here were I live just  yesterday (actually, is one of those Arcades machines with tons of games in it, and they have the entire SF3 series). but, i read a lot. and from those reading, High-profile SF players generally prefer SF3 and its parry system. which character, and which version is more popular, i have no idea.

2) SF3:3S is good for the same reason the whole series is good: Innovative designs, deep gameplay etc... what would detach 3S from the rest of the series would be:

*Chun-li, Makoto Q, and Twelve: the return of "Miss Street Fighter", a new, interesting, twist on the "Karate guy" concept, the  first "WTF?" character on the franchise (Blanka is more "Freak" or "Savage Figthing" than "WTF?"), and the first "morphing" (actual morphing, not "stretch" as Dhalsim) character on the franchise. i don't add Remy, because i don't like his "i'm not a fighter" attitude.

*Actually takes the series closer (but just a very small tidbit) to SF2: Urien mentioned "that organization" chun-li helped destroy. Q is to belived to have witnessed the fall of shadaloo.

*it refined the system, as every SF iteration did.


still, my favorite SF3 is 2nd Impact, because it 14 character roster, Gouki as secret boss and secret character, Shin Gouki as Secret non-selectable boss, and the overall art does feel more "Street Fighter" than the rest of the series. and it is a tournament, unlike 3S.

still, during this entire conversation, I've never refered to 3S specifically. I was talking about the entire SF3 series.
