I'm not explaining this very well, but the letters 'r' and 'l' are interchangeable in the Japanese, or something like that. So, when translated, the letters can be switched. Anyone else wanna take a jab at explaining it?

actually, in japanese, there is no L or R, but a sound that is between both of them.

So, when they try to say western words with "L" they often use "R" that is closer to the sound they actually have on their language.
