When making a new Project/Release thread here on MFG, why not add a filter for Compilation (next to the Character/Full Game/etc ones), that will save people a lot of time, not-having to check out these new threads where the 100,000'th n00by announces their FULL GAME. Looking at it form a fresh perspective, when wanting the showcase your Compilation then the Full Game filter is going to be used every time (nobody wanting to show off their super awesome and bestest Mugen creation ever with the mere Misc filter).

With this, people who are NOT interested in whatever crap someone put together and released as 'their work' can more easily ignore these threads.

I agree with this.
There should be one, because a compilation is NOT a full game. But since there isn't that filter (and icon) they will always use that "full game" icon.

Agreed completely.
We need some way of seeing is it shit or not before clicking it

I dunno, most people who release compilations don't consider them to be compilations and in fact take great umbrage when anyone suggests otherwise. Plus, compilations aren't even supposed to be in the release sections!

We know they'll get the wrong tag when posted, that's already a given, but at least it'll be possible for a mod to move them and give them the proper tag at the same time. Do you guys move the compilation topics to the edit section ? It'd be one more action for you to change the icon.

They're not supposed to be there... Then why do we allow them?

They're moved to the proper section (I assume). But in the first place, they're posted in the release section, as in, the guys who post them will use the full game icon and not the compilation anyway.

But the thing is is that they're not supposed to be there in the first place, taking up space that should belong to the things that actually took work. Right now SOP is to delete them, but, IIRC, there might've been some discussion of a single thread for compilations? That'd work better, I think.

Why is this a thing again?

Also you have to be really impaired or something to not tell what "release" is a compilation in 2013.

That could work.

:I

I'm pretty sure Balthazar is talking about trying to determine what's a compilation from the board, not the thread itself. And even then, it's not like it's a sure thing based only on the screenshots provided.
