I think it can be done, it just needs to be worked on for quite some time and have several layers.

Exactly this.  If you were to do your paintings in layers (background, midground, floor, foreground, etc.) you could get some really good results with them, especially with 1.1's .PNG transparency ability.

usually I do work in layers but the problem is I don't practice on rendering which I'm trying to work on atm
like this sketch for example it needs some more rendering on the people and buildings I think

Now that could make a really cool stage, but the bottom would probably need to be expanded to give the fighters a level surface to fight on.  Also, the people do look cool, but they'd need some work to fit in with a stage.   What layers do you currently have separated?

The layers I've separated are usually color layers and separate brush strokes should this become a stage everything has to be redrawn to look more cleaner and organized. This wasn't intended to be a stage but its possible to be converted. It will take more time though

How about the environments you draw with the intention of being Mugen stages you draw in parts that way you can avoid rendering and potential razor edges? It'd probably be easier on you.

Man I guess you have a thing for barbarians LOL :D
But jokes aside it's awesome. Have you considered making a deviantART account? Because these are really beautful pieces of art.

Really great job, you have some serious artistic skill.

The fingers bother me a bit though, i'm not sure what it is. Maybe a bit more shading on the top of them? Or maybe polishing them up a bit since they seem kind of clashy with the rest of the barbarian.

You did a pretty damn good job on the furs and arms IMO.

the top one is just a old concept layout I was showing before the revamp
the plan was either to paint over the pipes or find someone skills with after effects or squirlz to make the molten steel effect after I was done cleaning up the concept
