Hello there everyone!(I hope I'm allowed to post this here, if not... oh well).Today I bring you information on a game a friend (GigaPichu) and myself have been planning and slowly working on since last year around September/October, entitled Creepypasta: Nightmare Tournament, a game which brings together all the spooks and baddies from various creepypasta and grimdark stories all over the internet. We don't have a lot done at the moment, just a lot of ideas and some spritework done (that still needs to be tweaked); however, we have made contact with possible coders and spriting progress is about to increase dramatically after we finish planning movesets and finish all characters' idle animations. Here is the current public roster we have revealed, along with all available idle animations:01. Jeff the Killer 02. Smile.dog 03. Slenderman 04. Masky 05. The Rake 06. Skin Taker 07. Tails Doll/The Forest Spirit 08. BEN 09. Ghost 10. The Cupcake Mare Here are the current gameplay plans:GigaPichu said:The layout of the games stages would be similar to Super Smash Brothers, but we wanted the gameplay to be largely derived from games like the Marvel vs Capcom series. By this, we mean that we wanted the characters to be able to perform fun and cool combos like in MvC, but with the more simplistic controls of Smash Bros to perform all the moves, as well as the more interactive stages. Every character will have a moveset that consists of a punch and kick version of every regular attack, 4 special attacks, and 3 'Murder Moves'. The characters health system will work like this- Every character will have a Health Bar. The amount of health would vary per-character, of course. But, no character will be able to be defeated by just taking down their health bar. To defeat a character, you must use the Murder Move. Building the Bar for a Murder Move works basically like any other Capcom fighter, land hits or get hit, though it will take longer than usual Capcom style to build. A Level 1 Murder Move is the weakest and will only kill the opponent when they have 0 Health. Otherwise it will just be like a stronger move. Level 2 will kill the opponent when they have below half health, or it will do a pretty big chunk of damage. Level 3 will kill the opponent at any percentage of health. The stages will be a very large part of the game, and every character will have a character-specific move they can use to take advantage of stage features, having certain abilities that would be unique to them.Ex: Jeff can use dark parts of the stage to move around much easier as he sneaks around using them (basically teleporting). Not only this, but the stages will be largely destructible, and the only items that appear are the ones that come out of things on the stage. You will be able to use pieces of destroyed things as weapons, health items, and sometimes even shields. That's basically it. We're hoping for feedback on the ideas we have and hopefully continue to get feedback as we create more for the game. Thanks for reading.
As you mentioned this to me on Steam, this project seems really promising and will most likely end up being really great.Best of luck pal.
I do hope it's easy to connect those murder supers, because if they're not and that's the only way to kill your opponent then I can see the majority of fights ending in "Time Up".
what about funny mouth or sonic EXE?also im guessing you will be having all the normal attacks do Zero damage bud build meter is that right? kind of sounds like playstation allstars.

That wouldn't be fun at all if that happened, so don't worry. We've got it covered.Darkflare said, April 22, 2013, 10:14:45 pmSo have you planned ways to prevent "Build to level 3 and land it to win" from being the best plan?Of course.Laharl said, April 23, 2013, 03:14:31 amwhat about funny mouth or sonic EXE?also im guessing you will be having all the normal attacks do Zero damage bud build meter is that right? kind of sounds like playstation allstars. The current 10 we have are the only ones we plan on revealing for the time being, so you never know who may pop up next.Playstation All Stars was somewhat of an inspiration of how the game works (to an extent), though we have implemented a health bar as well, and depending on how much your health is depleted, determines if the Murder Move kills or not. Level 1s can kill when your character has no health left. Level 2s can kill with 50% or less health, and Level 3s can kill at any amount of health... that's the basic idea anyway.Looking at what I quoted again, I may need to revise some things as that was taken from a different thread on another forum and is slightly outdated, and it doesn't contain all the information that we have planned (from what I see). Thanks for all the feedback so far, it's helping us revise some things and think about the gameplay even more.
I would have chosen Gary's Raticate over the Lavender Tower Ghost, unless you plan to incorporate that somehow.
Wow those are some great spritesI would consider removing Tails Doll as it isn't as scary as the other characters.
We didn't necessarily choose what was the most "scary", more like who is most well-known. We're going to be putting some of our own twists on a few characters, so they're a bit more menacing than their original appearances.
Mister Manwich said, April 23, 2013, 08:29:01 amOne day I said to some friends "You know, I would like to see a Creepypasta fighting game."Ask and ye shall receive. One day I said, "Let's quote an entire original post, complete with graphics, just to say a few words that serve no value what so ever."This looks awesome, by the way. Any thoughts on an engine?
I can confirm that Herobrine will most likely not appear in this game.@Hoshi, we will most likely end up using Game Maker.
Awesome! Nice to see some Candle Cove characters and BEN on the list. Any chance you'll be adding Suicide Mouse and Dead Bart on the roster?
I really like what you did with Ben's idle stance with the weird creepy shit radiating off him, it's a nice touch.
I hadnt seen this before, this is a really fun project you seem to have going on and I wish you all the luck.
@Dissidia, we'll see.@MC2, you have my partner GigaPichu to thank for BEN's idle (actually for basically every idle in the current OP). He's pretty creative. He saw your comment and told me to say thank you.@Iced, thanks!@SlenderMan, I didn't say Sonic.exe wouldn't appear..
As Iced said, this looks quite interesting.Best of luck with it's development. I will be following this to see how it evolves.
