Dunno why I didn't create this topic earlier, instead of posting in V2.Been working on a few concepts - None of the stages have official names or music - I guess it will be up to SeanAlty:- Stage 1: 99%- Stage 2: concept , currently hesitating between a few choices 1 2 3 4
That second stage, maybe you can make all three versions! Yeah, just kidding. I like the first concept most.
The stages does look really nice. However I am going to be that odd guy, I do not really think they match Sean's style with the fighters. I understand he wants to go with a theme where the stages really do not fit with one fighter's theme but I think the type of style shown with your stages is realism and again are really well made but just do not share a style that fits with his fighters. But I am an odd guy so it may just be me.With that said, if I was to pick I too would go with 1.
I agree with you actually about the "style clash".The thing is, First, I worked really hard on the stage 1, and now I am kind of forced to continue with the same style for consistency.Another thing that in opinion will never be erased (so i'll have to deal with it :/ ) is that there will never be characters as nice as the stages... so there will always be a bit of a clash However, I could try to make more "cartoonish" or "anime like" stages, but I think I am a bit short on that type of resources. Anyway, I agree there is a sad clash... Maybe the concept of stage 3 will be better. I have to both try to reduce the clash but at the same time make sure all the stages have a similar style. I couldn't go for a fully cartoon like stage anymore right now.-------------
Ah alright, I apologize for any rudeness and wish nothing but luck to ya. No need for you to change it up with the thrid stage once you already put the work into the first two stages. They really are nice stages in the end.
A lot of 2d fighting games made after the 2000s actually do have really vibrant hi res stages in contrast with low resolution sprites. Good examples are MVC2, CVS1 and CVS2, KOF 98 UM and 2002 UM and XI, even Blazblue which has high resolution sprites has a bunch of 3d chaos going on in the backgrounds. I wouldn't really worry about the clashing. What WILL create a clash though is seeing these stages with Wizzy's old school CPS2 inspired music. It's like having hand drawn sprite stages but then putting a bombastic orchestra on it. It just doesn't mesh well to me.
How can you make the char playing alone?By the way, I would vote for the 4th concept, I like the "lost city in the desert" concept!

If not, add a ridiculous value to the sprite's x-axis.
Thanks, going to place on the third one, altough I wouldn't mind if the first one wins too . The 4th one however is just too depressing IMO.
The first concept is the best. Mainly because the others are heavily filtered with lots of gradients which won't mesh well with the characters' sprites.

I believe JeanBureau is still working on the CvTW stages, he just doesn´t post in here anymore (no, don´t ask why).
Yeah, that's the last thing I remembered, but since I haven't actually heard of him being active anywhere else (like Trinitymugen) I wanted to ask about them. (Wasn't going to ask about his leave. I know it's not my concern).
He´s only active in Youtube IIRC so recently he uploaded a video showing all his stages. I don´t know what to think regarding that but that was his most recent activity.
I should ask him what's up. I'm so used to people offering their help and then dropping out/disappearing, I just assumed that's what had happened with him.
