This is a Mugen Character im putting together. This character is based off a Character from my Dude the Super Fighter Comic (http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=25038.0)

About Dark Shadow
Technically a Dark Shadow is a Creature from the World ive Created.  Their body is soft like putty but can become very hard at will, allowing them an almost Blob-like morphing ability.  They have the ability to manipulate shadows as well as move between Shadows.  Dark Shadows Populate the "Under-Depths" which is an endless labyrnth of under-ground tunnels that span the entire Planet.  Dark Shadows are Classified as Demons because they come from the Under-Depths.  Dark Shadows Speak telepathically and have 2 Red eyes which are sometimes the only way you can see them.  They are vicious and have no Emotions.

Regular Move List
LP - Jab
MP - Splash Pound
HP - Spike Punch
LK - Tentacle Poke
MK - Low Swipe
HK - Chomping Shadow

Special Move List (Special Moves still in progress, This list is not complete!!)
Shadow Blob - [D, DF, F, LP] (Proj) Throw a Black Blob a medium distance that can stun the opponent for a short duration.
Vaccum Ball - [D, DF, F, MP] (Proj) Create a Slow moving Ball that moves across the screen. Enemies hit are pulled towards your Fighter and stunned for a short duration.
Shadow Swirl - [D, DF, F, HP] (Proj) Fire a Shadowy Swirl that deals damage and pushes opponent away to screen edge. 3 Hits
Shadowport L - [D, DB, B, LK] Teleport to the Left side of the Screen.
Shadowport R - [D, DB, B, MK] Teleport to the Right side of the Screen.
Rush Cutter - [~B, F, HP] Rush forwards making 3 attacks w/ Sword-like arm.
Shadow Swipe - [B, F, LP] An attack that appears behind the target and slashes them. Low Damage, Blockable. Fairly Avoidable if your paying attention.
Consume Shadows - [D, D, HP] Heal yourself slightly over time. The Longer you can use this move un-interrupted the more you heal.

Nice idea, just your attack sprites are kinda rough (as in unpolished)

Looks awesome. Why don't you look at sprites from that guy of Melty Blood?(the one who uses shadows)
It can give you some nice ideas, and you can try to edit your sprites to that style  ;)

Good luck in your project, it got lots of potential.

Dark shadow has a shadow in the example image?  o_O ???
i think we should call it an "engine" so we don't look like total idiots because otherwise we'd be arguing about a "game" and that would be somehow "dumber" than arguing about an "engine" on the "internet" for countless hours

Ya they may call him a Shadow but he is made of solid matter not any form of smoke or gas.  so technically his body would still block light sources making a shadow.

lol, interesting...

New Heavy Punch Finished.

Can Dark Shadow's shadow attack the opponents shadow?

My question didn't seem too serious, but it was so I made a proof of concept.

Spoiler: Example image inside!!!! (click to see content)

The green area is an invisible helper that can hit the opponent that casts a shadow. If the helper gets hit, Dark Shadow should possibly reel at getting attacked; even thought the helper was the one who got hit, the opponents shadow overpowered his own and Dark Helper should appear to obey the priority system mugen uses.

Red is P1, Green is a helper that creates the illusion of an attacking shadow, and blue is the opponent. The helper in the example is semi-transparent so you can see the concept, in mugen it would be totally invisible.

I'd think you'd be able to assert the character is invisible or use Trans and cast a shadow, but I'm not sure if that would work.

you may want to be a little forgiving on the clsns too for the shadow and extend them larger that the actual hit area.

This could be used for spawning shadow-like demons that attack the opponent's shadow, similar to a projectile.

If i understand what your asking then i think the answer is no.  Although i call him a Shadow he isnt actually a shadow. Hes made more of a putty like material that can become extremely hard at Will.  The main reason they are called Dark Shadows is because they can move between and manipulate shadows. Allowing almost a "Teleport/Blink" style of movement. I think im very fair with the Clsn's etc.

Im trying to make a unique cool character with a large toolbox of abilities, although im not trying to make a super powered UBER character that does 150 hit supers and nuke the entire screen.

I Enjoy a well-rounded balanced character with a large toolbox of skills for most situations.

is because they can manipulate shadows.
This is a description of how he could manipulate his own shadow, I'm not sure if that was clear, or if you thought I meant for him to extend himself out.

I'm not sure I explained it well enough, so I came up with a better (and more practical) proof of concept.

Look closely at the left Dark Shadow's own shadow.

Here is an example of what it would look like in-game.

Pardon the bastardized screen-shot and the huge range. I don't mean for the attack to have such huge range, but I needed to use one of your screenshots, hope you don't mind too much.

Even if you don't like the idea, I encourage you to keep experimenting.

o, ok i understand you now. Thats a very cool ass idea btw!

My only concern is on darker maps or if people have super bars on the bottom, how visible will it really be in a fast paced fighter.

Ill do some fiddling see what i can come up with though, thanks :D

Mirage is absolutely right.
exept one thing - how is that possible?
Looking at this work makers me want to make Dark Shadow of my own - where all attacks are made through shadow only. Exept super attacks...where he does something like Nero from Mb

*Rolls up a newspaper* Whos taking WHAT now?? :P

My issue with the actual shadow attacking is lack of sight.  Most ppls mugens have super bars at the bottom and especially on darker stages it would be very hard to notice.  However i got some cool moves im working on that utilize his shadows.

Just you wait :D
