So I've been doing a little fuckery and thought it might be cool to give Colossus one or more of them fancy schmancy palette cycles that are all the craze. It would make it so that his shiny metal parts...uh...shine. Here's a little proof of concept, just to give a rough idea of what I'm talking about (timings and etc are not final).Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyI'm not 100% on how to accomplish it, and I'll have to go through JMorph's Chun-Li to wrap my little brain around it, but I thought it might be a cool little addition.
it would involve pal switching which means every individual change to the pal has to exist as it's own pal. That's how gill did it. I didn't bother with that because of two reasons:1. Are you kidding me why on earth would I bother2. No one cares that much as long as it plays as it should.2.1. pals would be a nightmare
If anything, I was going to add it as an optional patch. I was thinking palettes number 10,11, and 12 would have the shiny shit added. I prefer the original way of dealing with palettes myself.Anyway, here's everyone's favorite part of color separation jobs - a new template! I only separated out the effects for his hard punch and grab toss thing, so no updates are needed (unless you wanted). Also, I've been knocking out a bunch of sprites today, probably about halfway done.
What I mean is each time the color changes it has to be another pal. So if the effect was say 6-7 unique color shifts. That's 6-7 pal for every single supported pal. This also has to be hard coded into the char
It wouldn't be too bad, with just 3 combined palettes, and only the metal parts changing (and even then only changing order). Shouldn't be too bad to crank out 21~ pals for that.davismaximus said, December 11, 2014, 03:02:57 amI'm not 100% on how to accomplish it, and I'll have to go through JMorph's Chun-Li to wrap my little brain around it, but I thought it might be a cool little addition.if you do, don't use the Chun-Li on my site, use the beta where the color shifting code isn't quite as stupid
Thanks guys@Kamekaze:I know what the pal switching entails, which is why it would be a completely separate download (.sff,.def,.cns, etc.) from just the .sff patch. That way people that don't want to deal with all that shit don't have to. I don't expect you to include it in the character itself, so I'd just update the patch whenever you did any updates on your end. @Jmorphman:Thanks, I'll check out that version, as I only glanced at the code for the time being.Anyway, there's less than 100 sprites to go, so gimmie some more palettes for the release, hopefully within a week or so.
amazing separation! congratulations!i want to use it on my openbor xmen gamedo you plan to add extra custom frames from other creators in this package?if i remember right colossus by felicity have some extra moves that worth to be separated too
