All I know is that when that happened (back when my stuff was hosted on Randomselect) I got pissed when all my work got taken down without anyone talking to me about it. So naturally I saw the whole "PROTEST WAREHOUSES" thing in a very negative light, and I'm glad the "movement" ended when it did. I think it's safe to say that all it did was increase the incentive to warehouse characters that weren't online any more, so PotS pulling out when he did at the very least slowed down the activity there (if you were against this stuff in the first place, any way).

Not that I want to start another flame-war, but my stuff getting yanked without my permission is one of the things that got me into looking for hosting outside of the site.

That the result was still the same...
oh, still with the childish point of view? "mom!, he didn't do what i wanted, he's a meanie!"

what part of "it's his freaking site" its so hard to learn...

like if was the one that created the whole movement...1 person doesn't make a difference with the whole community, like if everyone else was a lamb or something just to follow...

and still noone says what was all that about...i don't remember and neither "guess who" (lol again) a little memory refresher would be good...(now I remember a part)

and since KFM knew that it was temporary, by an MP, i think that the only thing biased here is trying to manipulate first hand information and make it look like something else isn't it?, why getting so pissed about something that was known about SINCE the beginning?

like I said, that's idealizing...

wanting to take down warehouses is like trying to take down warez pages...those are really illegal and can't still be taken away...so what you suppose will happen with warehouses that are not even in the scope of law?

The part where we're actually talking about a whole community and some people who have more influence on it than others.

"Just because you can't, doesn't mean you shouldn't try to". Some people just think it's right to do this or that, and even if they can't, they still want to do it, because to them, it's right. What's so hard to understand about that ?

I don't say is bad to try it, but it's still an utopic idea...

when a warehouse dies, its because it's leader decides to not pay or close it/loose interest, nothing else...

and I still say...if "guess who" adviced BEFORE the movement that he was NOT gonna take down his site, except for a LITTLE, and then call him in public saying the contrary...that's information manipulation...and thats equal to backstabbing....

who's backstabbing who?

I think that the anti warehouse movement did well in that most of the warehouses I've seen now ask for permission. They now host instead of just steel. Not all but most do so the movement succeeded and they should still fight because there fight is producing ethical warehousing.

Esnips on the other hand is the devil.

I could reply two things to that :

Seriously, you don't need to force yourself to be mean. You barely know what I defend and what I don't, and you weren't here for long enough -_-

I'm sorry if that came off as mean that was not the intension. If you notice I agreed with you in my post after the one you felt was mean. I basically said that you have done a good job with the anti-warehouse crowd.

You are very vocal B and I'm not always going to agree with you but when I do you shouldn't dwell on a slight jab here or there for I am just as vocal as you and by the nature of that alone we are going to have jabs, jokes, agreement, disagreements, and every once in awhile full out war.

God forbid anyone gets on both of our bad sides...

In short don't be so sensitive.

Ah, sorry about that then. I've felt for a little while that some of your comments seemed misplaced and a little nagging, maybe forced, but if I got the wrong idea, then my bad.

and i saw no response to the backstabbing stuff
Because I'm not the one who called on the backstabbing to begin with - I'm mainly saying that this was the general impression that was around at a time and explaining it. From another point of view, it could be seen backstabbing at him rather than from him (some people seem to think a lot of the "other side" as vicious and making devious plans and all - it's not "the axe of evil", seriously), and apparently I was missing certain details ; though from the point where I saw it, there still was a feeling that something really unnecessary happened back then. In that case, I'll let the interest party reply in more detail if they feel like doing so (a few questions have been raised so far).
But I still think that a few events were really... shifty, as seen from the "other" side. It's a cumulation of these and years of receiving comments that were anything but called for, that resulted in the situation we know.

As far as warehouses go, I do have a question...aside from permission to host and not allowed to copy and take credit for...what else do people expect?  ???

One problem with warehouses is that it can keep distributing outdated versions.
... Well, to be exact, the problem came when warehousers simply cared about growing their list of zip files without any care for the author, the version, the quality etc. This was the basis for a heavy, heavy and nasty grudge about those who simply added a character once and then forgot about it, only for the sake of getting more hits on their site. Then there were those who actually removed readme files and reference to the original author...

I don't know what the latest trend is for warehouses, but those who keep trading characters don't often think of refering to the original author, and may be spreading outdated versions. It's kind of about the frustration of seeing your creation be passed around like one banana amongst countless other bananas in a big boat, no matter how fresh the banana is.

  • does this look like the face of mercy?
One problem with warehouses is that it can keep distributing outdated versions.

And thus Rare akuma version 1 is still the one thats most spread out across the internet, and all its "updates" are considered even RARER versions.
