This character has an interesting history behind him. He was named 'Self-Insert' and was a parody of such characters in Mugen. I kinda just lost enthusiasm on the sprites for him and I dunno if I wanna pick him back up again.

Update-O, with meh news and bad news.

Yup. You might have seen the thread Mighty made in the 'All That's Left' section, and I'm still kinda mopey about it.

Also a version with characters he voiced and a wrinkle.
The meh news is the new Backlog added in the first post, which contains drawings of characters I may do in the future, so stay tuned.

Well there isn't anything wrong with a woman and a nose...
BUT that isn't the point now.
Now Who Wants to Learn How to Make a Lo-Res Portrait!?! Well Mr. Dinger will teach you a thing or two about it (Results may vary).
First you need theese.
1-MS Paint (For the process)
2-GIMP/Photoshop (For the transparencies)
3-Jammin' Extended Music
4-Patience
Gonna use another Chaos Coder character for this. Lemmie introduce you to Bravo.

This is the image I am gonna use during this tutorial.
Step 1 - Get a 120x140 rectangle of the classic transparency color Magenta (Or Neon Green) and the image of choice.

Step 2 - Use 'Resize' and scale down the image to be best fit into the rectangle. This is kind of a case of trial and error so play around with a few numbers.

Step 3 - Adjust image to your liking when it comes to placement.

Step 4 - Trace the image using a very bright color (For me , Yellow or Neon Green do best) using the pencil, curve line and line tools. Due to the image scaling, there may be some details missing, so its best to have the original image by your side to get them down.

Step 5 - Save your current work as a 16-color bitmap. Like so.

This allows for the image to have a large lack of color, so it is much easier to clean up.

Step 6 - Clean up the image by using the paint bucket tool, the pencil and the magic eraser trick accordingly (magic eraser as in Color 1 will replace Color 2 when you right click)

There.
Step 7 - Color it in using 'Edit colors' to work best with the source image. And obviously the paint bucket tool.

Step 8 - Shading. Editing the colors already on your image, make those darker, and place shading as according to the source image. Its like tracing, but with shadows and no black outline.

Also something something something using alpha channel in Photoshop but I just indexed this in GIMP, sent it to a Mugen character and saved it there for the transparencies and bing bang boom, you got a portrait, ready for your avatar/Mugen needs.

Only thing I'm wondering is if his hand had any detail to it or not (palm marks, finger marks)

When you continue shading, make sure that under the helmet (eye holes and under the mouth guard) is the darkest part. I remember that from the original art.

The colors do look like they clash a bit there, but I'm guessing that was the idea. Looks fine to me though.
