Keeley Hawes is to play a major role in the next series of Doctor Who.

Hawes - currently starring in BBC Two's hit drama Line of Duty - will play Ms Delphox on the BBC sci-fi drama.

Described as a "powerful out of this world character with a dark secret", Delphox will encounter the new Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and companion Clara (Jenna Coleman) when they arrive on a strange and puzzling planet.

My first Doctor. I liked his character. Fav 9th story would be between Dalek or Bad Wolf.

In regards to that bit about the speculation on the costume, the First Doctor also notably wore a jeweled ring.  It was basically his sonic screwdriver before they invented the sonic screwdriver, having vaguely defined abilities that would be introduced as the story required them.  Could be a callback to that.

2 sad news about Doctor Who which aren't part of this day, but past week's obituaries:
  • Derek Martinus: he passed away 27 March at 82. He's most known as the director of various Classic Who stories, like "The Tenth Planet" (last appearance of First Doctor and the first of Cybermen) and "Spearhead from Space" (first appearance of Third Doctor and Autons)
  • Kate O'Mara: she passed away 30 March at 74yo, she's a great actress with famous roles in series like Dynasty (Joan Collins' sister), but she's most known as The Rani, the villanous Time Lord who went for Sixth and Seventh Doctor and who allied with The Master in several times
RIP to Derek and Kate :'(

Reviving the thread with some interesting news, all of this is about possible new contents for Series 8 and spinoffs, but in the end all depends of Moffat (ugh). Let the speculation feast begins!!

-After the success of The Night of the Doctor there're rumours about a spinoff for Eighth Doctor to tell more between 1996 movie and TNOTD (audios and comics becoming a series??), and Paul McGann is also agree to be Eighth if this becomes true, as he stated in Doctor Who Magazine #472
-Another strong rumour is a spinoff between Rose Tyler and Meta-Crisis Tenth Doctor, and as McGann, Billie Piper is agree to be in it (and as we saw in The Day of the Doctor, David Tennant probably is agree, too)
-And something very recent: Suranne Jones, most know as Idris/TARDIS Girl/Doctor's Wife wants to be in upcoming series to meet the Doctor once again, in his Twelfth incarnation
-And also Janet Fielding is interested, most known as Tegan Jovanka, the Fifth Doctor's companion, which appears with... Peter Capaldi??

Why would Idris come back ? It was a dying human body in which the consciousness of the TARDIS was stored, if the TARDIS comes back in a body, there's no particular reason for it to be the same body. Unless they pull a Bad Wolf like in the movie with Piper, of course.
I'd love to see McGann, but I dunno about running a parallel spin-off, having two series with the Doctor running at the same time. Maybe it'd have to be a spin-off like Torchwood, centered around a different plot line, but with Eighth being a major character in it, just not the main one. It'd also help give him stories, since I'm not too sure about an entire series based around nothing but the Time War, just war stories. Not that I know anything about the audio stuff and the comics that came out before the revival, what it was filled with, but assuming it was just stuff before the Time War (obviously), it would feel too much like more of the same thing we're already seeing in the main series, it'd be redundant. So, not Time War because boring war stories, and not pre-Time War because redundant => I'm thinking make him a secondary but important character in a different series. Hell, they could have injected him in Torchwood if they hadn't sold that to the US (and the US hadn't killed it off).
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

If McGann gets an Eight Doctor spin-off they damn well better get India Fisher on board to go with him.  Maybe Conrad Westmaas too.  There's enough wiggle room with the timeline in a series like this for some more adventures with Charley and C'rizz.

I also bet for Mary Shelley and, of course, the comeback of Grace Holloway :D Yes, I would totally look Eight Doctor Adventures if a spinoff is made in a future. And I would like to see the other one with Rose and Meta-Tenth, too :P

Grace is in this weird legal limbo where the BBC and Big Finish don't have the rights to use her in any Doctor Who media, because both she and Chang Lee technically belong to Universal Studios.

Well, that's not so true. Grace appeared in various comics after the movie (DWM's The Fallen and IDW's Prisoners in Time as companion and character, and DWM's The Glorious Dead and The Flood as cameos) and in one of the pics of "wall of companions" from The Day of the Doctor. But yeah, bring her as a new companion would be difficult :-\

also:
- "your bowtie. give it to me"
and:
- ARE YOU SARAH CONNOR?
- y-yes

I mean they did it on purpose to avoid talking about it and really showing it, not necessarily that they planned it to play out exactly like that.

The new Humble Bundle is offering up IDW's library of Doctor Who comics.

Pay what you want for the first two series, beat the average donation for the third.  It also comes with the Doctor Who mobile game with a bunch of paid content already unlocked.  $15 or more also gets you the Prisoners in Time special series, which is actually pretty good other than one or two issues with really dodgy art.

It was 4 years ago when I started this thread?

Wow, I think I deserve some sort of Legend status, some kinda honorary display and/or bestowment for my contributions to the MFG.

It was ME that helped bring down the other forum.
It was ME that won the first annual MFG stage creation award, with my 80s TARDIS Console room stage.
And it was ME that started and lead the nWo here at the Guild, and it is still one of the most viewed and replied-to threads in the history of All That's Left. You know what....I don't even want that thread in the Hall of Fame. The HoF doesn't deserve it's presence.

And where is my award picture for the MFG Stage of the Year, it's supposed to be in my signature?

ANYWAY!!!
I'm ready and excited for Peter Capaldi. It's time for another older Doctor, even though I felt Matt Smith did a fulfilling job of conveying advanced age.
Moffat better not drop the ball on this one cause that last season was not so hot.
