I actually like this new doctor. He's got a twist to him which I can get used to PLUS Ive seen all the episodes so far.
I personally enjoy the episode with the daleks and How he got inside of one to "fix" him. Good old Rusty: He saw beauty in the universe and hatred for his own species.

I missed the Patrick Troughton cameo and I fell asleep in the middle so I'll look out for it when I watch it again.
It was during the part where that screen in the ship was flashing through all of the different cultural representations of Robin Hood.  Patrick Troughton was the first actor to portray Robin Hood on television, and one of the pictures they used was of him in that role.  This one, in fact:

Which, now that I think on it, brings up the slightly confusing notion that Patrick Troughton also exists within the Doctor Who universe.

But that ties back to the question of the first episode and the movie : the faces he chooses are not unique, he actually picks them from something he remembers and makes it his own (well, that's where it looks like they're going). So it's possible that first First Doctor saw Patrick Troughton as Robin Hood and took his face when he regenerated into the Second Doctor ! :P

if that's the case then think about this:

we know that the doctor is a harry potter fan (at least the books) but if he also saw the movies then remember david tennant (barty crouch jr) and john hurt (mr. ollivander) were in those movies :o

and if harry potter exists in the whoverse then the lord of the rings must exist too and silvester mccoy played radagast in the hobbit. and and... i don't remmber if there have been star wars refferences in doctor who but remember peter cushing was also "dr who"

So then... Did he see Malcolm Tucker and thought it would be brilliant ? ... No wait, he got that one from Pompeii.

You're getting into some dangerous Westphall Universe territory there.  Best not to think too hard about it.

Classic Doctor Who with the standards of new series. That's basically how I resume this new Doctor. I loved Capaldi as the Doctor, he has a lot of old ones, especially from First and Third. Also, the references to Classic Who are a lot in every chapter, I've enjoyed every of them and as was said before, I also loved the new paper Clara has with Twelfth now. I'm more than satisfied with the Series 8

And I read some theories about who Missy is, and I fully support them:

However, whoever she is, I like the way how the things are developing until now, I'm expectating about the finale

This week was so insane I'm worried it's trying too hard. I can't tell if this is going somewhere.

They're really making a big deal out of Danny, that's for sure.  What worries me is that they're tying him so closely to Clara, and if Coleman is really leaving the show this Christmas all of that buildup will be for nothing.

Eh, they're making her relevant (and they manage to build a good relationship between her and the Doctor), so as long as that whole build-up - transition is well written, I don't mind.

Also, he's too old and it would be creepy for the Doctor and Clara to have something going on or even hinted at....so in the continuation of the romantic aspect of the modern show, we have Danny. Wait didn't we have Micky and Rory?
Oh so Danny's the new Micky and Rory, and is also there to help Clara not fall for the Doctor.

Missy / Mistress = Master math makes sense.
But Gallifrey was saved so this could be any TimeLord....if it's a TimeLord at all. This would be a cool way to introduce the story-line of the Doctor trying to rescue Gallifrey from where ever it is.

Anyone else notice how much "Doctor Who" is on American network TV now?

Karen Gillan has ABC's Selfie.
David Tennant is in Fox's Gracepoint.
And Sean Pertwee (3rd Doctor's son) is Alfred in Fox's Gotham.

When I was a kid the only time I remember seeing anyone outside of the show was Patrick Troughton getting impaled in the Oman.

Well, Karen Gillan has been pushing her career up ever since Doctor Who, and Tennant is here for the US remake of Broadchurch, plus he's been around before Who - he was in Harry Potter.

Kill the Moon was cool, it felt crazy and classic. I'm not too big on the horror side of the first part, but the twist and the end ? Oh god.

I really appreciate all the nods to the classic series they're dropping into this season.  You can really tell they're trying to pull away from the Doctor as a romantic fantasy that really swelled up during Tennant and Smith's years, and harken back to the days of Hartnell, Toughton, and Pertwee.  The "When I say run, run" line Capaldi delivers was pretty much the Second Doctor's catchphrase.  I love it.

Also, major kudos to the actress playing Courtney for her astoundingly realistic portrayal of a modern-day shitty teenager.  She gets a once in a lifetime chance by getting to travel to the freaking moon in the freaking future and how does she spend it?  Dicking around on social media for a while before complaining that she's bored.

I just finished David Tennant's stint as the Dr. Holy hell that was an awesom series finale. (I call it that because I know nearly everything changes with Matt and they tied up all major story threads they'd made)

These 4 seasons were the best sci fi show I'd ever seen. Can't wait to get going with the new dr. I hope his run can be even half as fun!

Also really need to watch torchwood. Every time Jack is on screen is gold!

Did Martha jones get her own series for a bit too? I saw her and Micky together when Tennant was saying bye. Once I catch up with dr who I'll probably try to watch all the spin offs.

Tennant's last ep was a tear jerker for sure!

afaik I believe martha shows up in torchwood once. The only other companion the Doctor has that had her own show was Sarah Jane Smith, and she had her run until the death of the actor that played as her. Tbh Im surprised they didn't have a special episode on Sarah. Sad really.

WOO HOO holy shit best Who episode ever. Seriously loving that Doctor. There was the "nobody dies today" fad that was starting to annoy people in the 9th and 10th Doctors (until they gave Tennant a full emo phase), this one was starting to get way too far in the "not caring for those who are already doomed" direction (I do prefer seeing him at least try to save people with a couple of miracles every now and then), but this whole episode rocked. The Smith run kind of felt too centered on the Doctor, like a hero worship and nobody cares about all the other characters (unless they're called River Song), but this episode found the right balance : he starts being cold so the other characters can step up or we can learn about them (the captain is cool), and then at the last second he pulls a big Doctor moment and shows he's not just fucking around.
The Clara back-and-forth is slightly rubbing me the wrong way, but we'll see how they do end it.
