See people not even Jmorphman's body can handle Glee.

I'm also under the impression that people keep neglecting data from the game, do you guys know how PotS made his original characters? He actually studied every single game he referenced, down to the core. Doing this properly requires understanding how the original system was made, not just winging it.

:-\ i think mugen is slowly fading...with all the cancelled projects and unoriginal editing of characters..theres just almost nothing there...half finished, un-finished..i hate seeing a nice character that has potential and the creator just stops...i've seen some nice looking characters on google images like a a few tekken characters that the creator just left unfinished...some soul calibur characters...interesting styled characters and it just never gets finished...is there anything we the community can do to help creators get that momentum and stuff they need to keep on with a project?? i think we can..

MUGEN is hard work. Plain and simple. I'm just speaking from a coding perspective, because I can't sprite edit. I can only imagine the amount of dedication needed to sprite edit along with coding and everything else. The more ideas you have, the more work you have to do to implement it. Somewhere along the way it becomes a task rather then a hobby/something you're having fun with doing. This is when projects/characters/etc. get the "axe" so to speak. Also, problems IRL come into play as well. Since things take so much time, you may not have the same amount of free time you had when you started a project several months ago.

Unfortunately, this problem has become one I am faced with myself. The best way to help out would be to do just that. Help out. Learn how to sprite edit, code, contribute to the community as best you can. Projects run smoother when there are multiple people working together to achieve that goal. Moral support only goes so far. It's nice to hear..."Good luck on your project!  :sugoi:", but wishes of good luck doesn't get things done. If you see a project you'd like to see make it's way to MUGEN you should do your best to contribute to it IMO.

Lack of collaboration is one of the main reasons for the dry spell in MUGEN. With so many great coders/spriters/etc., you'd think it wouldn't be a problem to help one another out. Though, we all have our own goals/priorities. I hope to work together in the future with some other creators to perhaps make a full game project or just a character. We can only do what we can to make it more enjoyable. Personally though, I don't like how mainstream fighting games are nowadays and I like the freedom given to us by MUGEN. No matter how good a fighting game is, it losses it's luster over time. Though not MUGEN, because new things can always be added/created. It's like a fighting game with infinite DLC. Free to boot. :D

There are limitations on that. Within a full game more than about 3 people turns into a "lets add lets remove hey lets do this i don't agree with that lets do this instead" that lasts about 6 months, then the project goes nowhere. Not always the case, but very common. Single characters with teams of 2 work OK though.

Shit's pretty lively in this thread and last I checked people were still creating and playing mugen.

Maybe its dead in the thread author's part of the world...or maybe he/she has nobody to play mugen with. :bigcry:
