I like the realistic approach jed & jessie look nice.either your paper is too thin, has rough texture, your eraser sucks, or your hand is sweaty, sometime when my hands are a little bit damp I use tissue paper and wrap it around my ring and little finger covering the side of my hand that touching the paper to keep it dry, and i try not to touch my face with my right hand while drawing bcause skin oil is bad and I use blu-tack as eraser which is more effective than any eraser block kneadable, last forever, and not damaging the paper.

I'll keep what you said in mind too @ Navetsea even I forget this rules about drawing with clean hands sometimes XD
