you're still doing the same thing you always do, tweaking "reality" to your favor whenever you don't like something like a classic SJW
i don't think that means what you think it means

That was like 50 pages ago (And I never even read whatever happened after I posted for like 20 or so pages just to avoid accidentally reading you :) ) and you're still doing the same thing you always do, tweaking "reality" to your favor whenever you don't like something like a classic SJW, even though this isn't even about you to begin with, oh well!  :sweatdrop:

It would be wise to not to bring up our relationship again, especially when you're not exactly on the clean side to begin with :)

No im pretty sure both Jm and Neo are right.
Going "like a classic sjw"  justs further shows why you got your reputation. :) I mean cmon man lmao, some of us are actually trying to discuss those movies/comics for real here., dont sky us.

So uh, yeah, anyway, Black Canary is awesome, but one usually needs to actually experience something before they make giant, sweeping judgements against them for arbitrary reasons :V

Universal is establishing a "brain trust" to oversee their Monster Movie Universe, which, wait, is still a thing? I thought it collapsed after Dracula Untold bombed? Oh well, guess they're just powering through. The interesting thing here is that this brain trust is basically a TV writer's room, but for movie franchises.

Tim Heidecker, Nick Kroll, Kaitlin Olson, and Michael Pena have joined the cast of the Vacation reboot/sequel/thing. Well this is starting to pique my interest. Also, Kaitlin Olson should be cast in more things, she's so fucking amazing, especially with physical comedy. And actually you know what the entire cast of It's Always Sunny should be cast in more things, they're too good!

http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/nov/14/christoph-waltz-james-bond-24-nemesis

Christoph Waltz in BOND 24. Get hype!
I'm pretty pumped; there's one thing of note, though: almost exactly a year ago, the Bond producers finally settled their long running dispute with the estate of the screenwriter who may or may not have come up with SPECTRE; the lawsuits and controversy resulting from all that resulted in SPECTRE, Bloefeld, and the associated concepts and characters being in a state of weird legal limbo where no one was able to use them.

Sooooooo, what with Skyfall ending in a quasi-reboot to the original movies, maybe Waltz is playing a certain cat stroking supervillain? They could even tie it into QUANTUM, or something.

I found Black Canary boring in everything in which I've seen her (mostly the cartoons - all of them, Justice League, Unlimited, Young Justice and probably whichever Brave and the Bold she appeared in).
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

I respect your opinion but do not agree with it at all (because Canary is so rad!)

fixed and agreed

The Titans designs don't translate well into american comic styled art. In fact, they look cheap, out of place. This is an abortion.
you have not read the original manga, have not you? titans are just lazily drawn humans.

I guess people can find her boring if they are into the rest of DC's godlike characters, I mean she's more of a street level character, and thats why I've always enjoyed her. The cartoons just usually make her one dimensional with her being a great fighter. I enjoyed it though, because I like women who kick ass.

I really wish JLU had been able to do that Birds of Prey episode they were kicking around (stupid Bat-embargo), because the Barbara Gordon/Black Canary friendship is so fucking great. And Gail Simone was gonna write that episode! Screw you The Batman, ruining everything! >:[

I find her boring because she only has straight-forward fisticuffs stuff, she never does anything special, even if you lower your expectations by her being "street level". She has her canary cry, but either it's always a one-move-win because godlike, or she avoids using it because it would be too easy. As far as street-level heroes go, Green Arrow brings some humor and some variety in arrow usage, Wild Cat has this gruff vet' attitude, etc. As for writing, none of the stories I've seen her in has made any impact on me while making her relevant.

JLU couldn't really get into it, but the legacy hero stuff involving Canary in the comics is pretty compelling, IMO. But I was fine with her just beating the shit out of people, I love that kind of street level stuff.

what Jmorph said, and she played well off of GA in the comics as well, they just kept her pretty simple in the cartoons because, they would rather build up superman and batman and the others. As much as JLU had so many hero's it still focused a lot on the core 7.

But JLU usually managed to give a decent characterization to all the guys who popped up like once or twice. BC has... being normal. Nothing wrong with that, but it feels too much like she can be switched by anyone else at any time for the same result - action and writing all the same (and  by "switched with anyone" I mean any normal human with good enough fighting skills). I'd almost say she lacks a gimmick, or at least, a personality. Her cry being either godlike or useless (with no other option in between) doesn't help. I guess she's mostly good when she's teaming up with someone as a duo (or in a team no bigger than 3) to be the other's sidekick, the "straight man".

Of the four major, non-original 7 Justice League members they brought in for JLU (the other three being Huntress, Green Arrow, and the Question), Canary definitely was developed the least, though I would argue that has more to do with her not having a simple gimmick that is easily built off of (Huntress had the antiheroism tendencies/revenge stuff, Green Arrow had his being an argumentative braggart, and Question had his conspiracy theories); moreover, the really interesting stuff she had in the comics weren't easily transferable to the show (legacy hero, trained by all the Golden Age heroes, friendship and partnership with Barbara Gordon), at least not in an ensemble series that she joined in its third season. Either way, I think they used her as best they could, as a sounding board to develop other characters, as a kickass martial artist for action sequences, and they even got in the Green Arrow/Black Canary flirtation too, which is always fun.

edit: oh yeah, she was the straight man, most definitely. And I would argue that, like with the straight man characters in comedy, it's actually a hard role to pull off and is absolutely essential to making things work!

I can kinda see her appeal but I dont think she was used in interesting ways.   The question was a far more interesting street level dcu hero.

A lot of that article is speculation and the Taskmaster part is super speculative. I mean, it's well though out, but it's still speculative.

The director of the Night at the Museum movies is planning an Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, which is being billed as "being in the vein ofGuardians of the Galaxy." Now, sure, all that sounds terrible, but just you wait: they are currently eying three actors for the lead. Naturally, for the lead role of Ali Baba, their three choices are all blonde white dudes.

Yep.

More Universal monster stuff: don't you folks worry, Universal is taking out all of the horror from these movies, and modeling things on superhero movies, because that sells better.

I can kinda see her appeal but I dont think she was used in interesting ways.
You mean in JLU, right? Because she is used in lots of interesting ways in the comics >:[

Current point of situation for marvel properties

You know, whenever I'm reminded of how most of those things on that list (and other stuff not listed there but is still in a grey area, like the Kree) all came from the original, Lee/Kirby run of Fantastic Four, I'm always astounded. There's just so much stuff there, stuff that literally and figuratively formed the foundation of the Marvel universe. It sure would be pretty foolish to try and badmouth that book!
