Are you watching with the English dub, because I feel that is the best way to watch BECK.
In fact, BECK is the reason why I have no interest in ever watching K-ON!.  Picked up a S.A.V.E DVD copy of it at the video store on a whim (it was marked down $17.99) and it still feels great after I watched it two years ago.  The only difference is that I know recognize Chiba's dub voice actor, thanks to Yu Yu Hakusho.
The only qualms I still have are that they cut the songs short and that the ending was just a picture show from I remember.  Some people may dislike the lack of explanation for Ryusuke's dog, but I just consider him to be another quirk to the series.  No explanation necessary.

Speaking of the video store, they had a nice selection.  Could do without some of the DBZ, Naruto, and Bleach DVDs though.
But they only had 1 DVD volume of Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex.  There's always the opportunity for me to ask for the complete series DVD at Christmas though.

Other than rewatching BECK, I've been slacking off on my anime watching.  I might just complete Minami-ke today and start on something else.  But once I get this novel revisial done, my anime watching might pick up again.

Would choosing me for the question thread be a
unique experience?  I can't really say.

why would watching a show about japanese kids who like english music dubbed in english be a good idea ?
if anything , that's one of the shows that absolutely has to not be watched in english, I'd rather watch it in spanish.

I feel like the engrish would make it more hilarious for the wrong reasons.  The English dub just feels more natural to me and doesn't take away from the drama and whatnot.  On the topic of angst, Kyouki would be easier for most peoplr to like, since he isn't like Naota from FLCL or Shinji from Evangelion.

Like Welcome to the N.H.K, it just feels right to me dubbed.  Of course, opinion is subjective and some people may not mind the engrish in the Japanese version.  Speaking of dubs:

I did watch BECK english dubbed and never thought it was particularly bad, especially with Greg Ayres being the protagonist. I dislike him a whole lot because the only voice acting he can do is with his own voice which is grating to me, but his performance as well as the rest of the casts didn't bother that much in this show. Given the context, I'd agree with E though.

I dunno, he was Kaworu's VA in the director's cut version of episode 24 in Evangelion and I didn't recognize him.  But yeah, he uses his normal voice in BECK, Ghost Stories, and Welcome to the N.H.K.  Some VAs are recognizable right off the bat.
Aside from somehow providing a voice for Pu in Yu Yu Hakusho, I'm still curious whether if Justin Cook only reserves that "Yusuke" voice for loud-mouthed characters or if that is actually his voice.
Crispin Freeman kind of suffers from this as well.

But regardless of the context, some dubs just grow on me and become my preference for that particular show.
I don't feel like watching any of the original JP version of Yu Yu Hakusho because it lacks the clever scriptwriting and doesn't fit the characters' personalities as well.  Not a strike against the JP voice actors, but I just think Funimation did a great job here (and with BECK).

With some of the early roles I've heard Steven Blum do, his voice tended to have that Spike Spiegel ring to it.  However, it may have been only a few roles that he used that particular voice.

I have this with dubs aswell but, I prefer the japanese voices over English for a while now. I only like both Japanese and English dubs for Dragonball and Dragonball Z. The Example is that I started watching Yu Yu Hakusho with it's original language like 2 weeks ago. I did take a look at the English dub aswell and realized that Kuwabara had the voice of Vegeta and Genkai had Frieza's. It didn't feel original to Me as soon as I heard it. I believe Japanese voice actors are better in hiding and changing their voices for different Characters they have.

I agree with your point. I don't hate English dub but often it feels as if the english voice actors have no energy when they do their dubbing. I did enjoy watching DBZ in english though. Going FREEEEEEEZZZZZZAAAAAAAAA for a few episodes lol.

The persona animes/games also have very well voice acting regardless of language :)

That is true man. Piccolo's English dub was awesome aswell. Hokuto No Ken and One Piece are also better in their original Japanese languages. You can hear that voice actors are putting their souls into their Characters. That is something they sometimes miss in English dubs.

damn another one of my favorite character died in akame ga kill. may you rest in peace coro and your psychotic master. and how the hell did they fit that bomb to her head?
yeah, rest in peace bols.... oh, you were talking about justice bitch? my only complain is that it took them this long to kill her

man, aside from some ridiculous magic items with over the top abilities the technology in akame ga kill can perfeclty replace a peron limbs, hide fire arms inside someone's body, modern warfare weaponry, radars, etc and yet, they don't have any long distance communications?! i'm following this show but it's just too stupid for me.

and speaking of stupid shows i just catched up with harem art online. so kirito and his bitch part were the only ones who were able to prevent ragnarok because they were the only ones in the whole game to activate the neccesary flags to complete the linear and dull dungeon to do it.

also, lol @ forever-alone-samurai getting more screen time than ptsd-chan.

and: "if zekken had been in SAO they would have received the two-sword skill instead of me". which is basicaly him admitting zekken is better than him but also that he was better than everyone else in the game. man, even kirito can choke with his own dick sometimes
