Maybe he means X Seed- I mean Cross Ange? That's the only thing I can think of that combines magical girls and character death that fails to have any emotional impact whatsoever.
If you close your eyes, your life a naked truth revealed
Dreams you never lived and scars never healed
In the darkness light will take you to the other side
And find me waiting there, you'll see if you just close your eyes.
If you just close your eyes.
If you just close your eyes.

lol gundam ange, I consider it to be as good an enjoy it with the same mind set as, let's say, senran kagura, just "mechas" instead of ninja.

  • No meaning to me, just an empty box.
It's very hard for me to pick just one, but my current favorite for this year is still Silver Spoon at this point. I loved it for being a competent and well meaning coming of age drama that delved into the many themes and issues that it's characters faced with a great degree of compassion and delicacy, all of which made it enjoyable to watch week to week while still having an impact.

That might change depending on how Shirobako ends because I feel like it does a similar thing except in the adult realm and instead of an agricultural campus as a setting they use the anime industry. I was worried that the large cast of characters would bog down the pacing and leave the majority of them with little to no depth at all, yet it seems that hardly ended up being a problem. I loved the fact that they celebrate anime production from both it's highs and lows while riffing on the production side of everything in a very "inside baseball" way. One thing I enjoy the most is how much the show provides a cliff-notes style overview of what each team role does for the duration production and how much their input matters. It's  nice to have an idea of what a producer etc. does instead of the abstract and probably incorrect idea of what they do in my head.

There's also Yuki Yuna, but we'll see about soon enough.

Akame ga kill , no game no life and sao2
I wouldn't consider that a infinite since you have to make your opponent bounce of the wall and if you do it on the wrong side of the stage the stage interaction would activate.

If samurai flamenco was this year than that for my personal favorite anime that I hated yet loved to watch every week

It's very hard for me to pick just one,

yeah, this year has been kinda solid, with jojo and all but there's just not a series that realyl stands out, all the lists I ahve seen area also all around the place because of that. I'll reply again with the shows I enjoyed the most of what I watched.

sakura gay
nozaki kun
space dandy
yowapeda
akakill

out of those the only one that is "objectively" good and will persist the  test of time is space dandy, yowapeda already shows signs of shounen sports shjit, sakura gay lacked conflict so it's like a more modern marimite, same as nozaki kun except that it was a very clever show for a comedy, while akakill is nice and had good execution totally not feeling the "they butchered the manga" guys/complainers.

I think it's the same takahiro, did not know he was also behind kimiaru and majikoi, tho.

Yep, it's the same one who worked with Kimiaru and Majikoi. In Minato Soft website, the company that made those two games and where Takahiro works too, they always announce in their blog anything related to Agame ga Kill because of that.

Okay I got all this anime on my HDD I'm ready to watch. Lets see... there's Kuroko no Basket (both seasons), Hellsing Ultimate, Casshern Sins, The Unlimited - Hyoubu Kyousuke, The Tatami Galaxy, House of Five Leaves, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, and the anime version of Tokyo Ghoul (I've only read the manga up till now).

By the time I catch up to watching 2014 animes, it'll be 2016 :P

that's decently eclectic, but why kuroko basket when you could be watching the superior slam dunk  (there is only one semi-valid reason)?

Would like some input in regards to Accel World -- is it worthwhile? I mean, I was intrigued by Sword Art Online, but the more I read into it's characterization and reviews, my enthusiasm went south. A shame, given that the premise of a not-so-amicable virtual reality sounded really promising.

Yet from the get-go, I can already feel engrossed with Accel World; the virtual reality premise is there and the main character actually has flaws. Kirito on the other hand just seems like a flat-out Gary Stu. So then, should I invest?
Sometimes you just need a little less gun.

Well I've got 2 reasons.
1. I keep seeing Kuroko no Basket renders when I search for signature renders, so I wanted to see what's all the hubbub is about.
2. They used to Slam Dunk here on tv and I grew to dislike the old animations. I just don't want to watch it for some reason.

Kuroko no Basket so far is pretty good. Nothing exceptional, but I think it's doing far better than what I expected from it.

House of Five Leaves is pretty nice, the story is solid and intriguing :)

AW has a pretty uncommon looking main character that's for sure. I can't remember much tho, it's been a while now, but overall the plot was definitely more solid than SAO (where the not-so-amicable VR only applies to the actual SAO arc really).
And yes, Kirito is pretty much flat-out Gary Stu. In the current (airing) arc, he still found the way to save the day with the story pretty much not-focused on him at all. Yeaaaah.
Hariyuki's (or was it Haruyuki?) struggles are more believable (he -is- a chubby little guy in the real, after all). He does get an unusual power for his avatar... Not because he's a real life killing machine, thankfully. Heck, I'd say I believe more that Brain Burst could be a thing than SAO's... Various gaming issues. Seriously how can player skill make up for only having 7 of the 49 required players?...
Anyway, if you like the premise of Accel World, I'd say go for it.
