Well this has been bugging me and getting on my nerves for quite a while. Sometimes when I try to open a folder in Explorer, the taskbar disappears, and then explorer restarts, bringing up the My Documents folder, yet the taskbar doesn't reappear. Then I have to use Windows Task Manager to kill it and then restart it. This is quite repetitive and annoying, and Google has failed me.

Oh, and there is another slight problem that I am not sure is related to this, but when I browse the root of my X:\ drive in Explorer, no file/folder names appear.

Any solutions to either of these, guys?

Tried folder options long ago, no dice.

Also I would like to avoid reinstallation at all costs.

Here I am wondering why the address bar isn't displaying X:\\ as it should be.
Change your language options back and see what happens.

My question is what is suppose to be on your x drive. Are you on a network or is this a thumb drive?

This has happened to me too. It was because some file in the folder was "corrupted" or anyway had some kind of problem. I had to browse through the folder using Nero/winamp/whatever, locate the file causing the problem (by deleting some of them, trying to go back in the folder with explorer. If it works, the problem came from one of the deleted files, if it doesn't work, put back the files in the folder and try with other files), and deleting it.

Another way to get it the folder might be to use safe mode.

use xplorer² instead of explorer. awesome piece of software. some of the best 15 bucks you'll ever invest.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

otherwise (and I'm pretty sure you won't take my former advice :P ): reinstallation. No (time-cost-effective) way around it.

That's because he uses a different font, my guess would be MS Mincho.

\\ edit

sorry, just noticed it's 30 bucks. meh. still easily worth it.
