list of features that make the major difference for me:
- interface is 95% backwards-compatible with explorer, so virtually no time to get used to it before you can use it regularly
- double-clicking on empty space in a folder goes to parent folder
- arrow key selection wraps to the left and right
- changing filename by F2 excludes the file extension from highlighted text
- customizable hotkeys, good set of standard ones
- doesn't crash when a device isn't accessible
- doesn't kill taskbar if it does crash (happened to me only once or twice in 3/4 a year)
- searching breadth-first instead of depth-first
- colored highlighting by various conditions
- works with most shell extensions (like
mp3ext)
...and LOTS more.
