Demitri Maximoff said, September 26, 2007, 02:11:24 pmYeah, I like the two last GIFs.1st one makes me think that if such a shoot'em up existed, I wouldn't be able to survive more than 15 seconds (Hell, I can't even finish Ikaruga).Second one is very instructive, even if it lacks some sort of animation (zoom in and out would be nice)@Val : you watched the ending of Men in Black a bit too often. Capcom has a few shoot-em ups like that:Giga Wing 1 and 2, Mars Matrix, Progear...

Haven't played it much, but my personal record thus far is just 114 seconds. But unless you've got superhuman abilities, I think "scoring" in Shiroi Danmakukun largely comes down to luck of the draw. The game comes with a variety of predefined bullet patterns, some of which are much easier to dodge than others, and selects them one after another at random (when playing in normal mode or simple mode, that is).Supersonic Boom said, October 23, 2007, 04:46:25 amCapcom has a few shoot-em ups like that:Giga Wing 1 and 2, Mars Matrix, Progear...If you're referring to the manic bullet patterns, then there's a whole lot more than that out there (from companies other than Capcom, that is). (The games you mentioned do happen to be a few of the best, though, at least in my opinion.)In addition to its own original patterns, Shiroi Danmakukun itself includes bullet patterns copied from each of the following games:Battle GareggaChaos SeedDo DonPachiDo DonPachi Dai-Ou-JouDragon BlazeESP Ra.De.EspgaludaG-DariusGiga Wing 2GuwangeG-WangeKetsuiNoiz2saProgearPsyvariarRadiant SilvergunStorm CaliberStrikers 1999tenmadoXeviousXII StagxsoldierE.g., in the GIF posted by Olrox, I believe the pattern that finally killed the red dot was designed in imitation of one of Ms. Garra's attacks in ESP Ra.De.[E]arly Morning Poison said, October 23, 2007, 05:55:45 pmI am pretty sure there is a gaming slang term for playing shooters without shooting. can't remember it atm, though."Dodge-'em-up"?Edit: New best time!

Thanks. It reminds me that I bought Radiant Silvergun in Japan one year ago and that I still haven't tested it.
