I'm starting to pool my resources for 1.1 portraits (Yes, I've finally given in!!) and I figured I'd ask all of you to get a feel of which artwork I should go about converting. Considering the vast amount of art each game has, and the fact that I don't mind converting things en masse, I thought this would be the best way to go.

This question comes up because titles like Street Fighter 2 and 3, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown and Capcom VS SNK all have varying art styles. I wanted to know what you guys would like to see!! And with that said, also bring up any obscure games that you'd like to see converted as well, like Fist of the North Star or WakuWaku 7. :mmhmm:

Voice your opinions. Lots of work is already being done. ;D

There should be a Saikoro plugin for Photoshop.

  • I bite the faces of people who don't wanna be cool
Samurai Shodown 5 Special

I'm also under the impression that people keep neglecting data from the game, do you guys know how PotS made his original characters? He actually studied every single game he referenced, down to the core. Doing this properly requires understanding how the original system was made, not just winging it.

Some art by Takeuchi Takashi (he's in charge of most of the art design on Type-Moon's games, including Melty Blood) would be nice.

There's also Mori Toshiaki (a.k.a Shinkiro) who did.. well, a ton of art designs for KoF and other fighters (He was also in charge of the "SNK" side portraits for CvS/CvS).

Ogura Eisuke is another choice though, since he did the artwork for KOF XIII, KOF XII, and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum.

And that's all I have on the top of my head.

Haha - welcome aboard man!

If I would have to suggest artwork, it would be for old school games artwork to be touched up to look cleaner in 1.1 like KOF 2002 UM that art is so nice but the resolution they come in sucks ass lol.
I'm sure you have some good stuff up you're sleeve already  ;)

Those SF3 win/loss portraits are pretty cool, but they are in game specific. And that translates into low resolution pieces that won't look good when trying to scale them for 1.1/high resolution quality.

I've also been digging for those Samurai Shodown/Spirit portraits. Those too are in-game only. I'll see what I can muster up. I don't take these requests lightly; all of your requests are being considered. ;D

Thank you, I've been mistaking Edayan's work for Bengus'

Apparently, the one I love most is actually Edayan's

Edayan art you all say??

::Googles Edayan art style::

In all honesty, I didn't know he illustrated THAT MUCH. Don't worry, I got plenty covered. And plenty of work to do. :gonkgoi:
