Nomura steps down as director of FF15 IGN said:Tetsuya Nomura has left the Final Fantasy XV project, on which he was serving as Director. Final Fantasy Type-0 and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Director Hajime Tabata will step up from Co-Director to FFXV's main Director.Nomura, notable for his iconic Final Fantasy character designs and leading the Kingdom Hearts series since the original game's release in 2002, will now "focus his full efforts as the director of other highly anticipated titles," Square Enix said, "including Kingdom Hearts III." It did not specify which other games Nomura is working on.These changes come as part of a "development restructure" within Square Enix. "Currently, Tabata and the entire development team are working, whole-heartedly, towards completing the production of Final Fantasy XV and ensuring the delivery of the highest quality Final Fantasy title to date,” said Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda."Tetsuya Nomura has mainly worked on the original concept for the [Final Fantasy XV] story and universe in addition to creating the character," Matsuda said. Hereafter, he will be focusing his efforts on the production of titles that can only be made possible by Nomura, himself, and delivering products that exceed the quality of past titles, starting with another one of his representative projects, Kingdom Hearts III. Square Enix will continue to work on these titles with the best staff formation in an effort to deliver them to everyone as soon as possible and appreciates your continued support.”
ShinRei said, September 18, 2014, 05:12:46 amFinal Fantasy XV Hype died a long time ago.Nope. Still hyped as ever. It and KH3 are the only games that will make me buy a PS4.
It will be good for Sqaure Enix. More people will buy their games, so they can continue making more games. That's it.
Bad News GBK said, September 18, 2014, 02:10:44 pmWhat if both games are coming to the PC too?I think it's a good bet for FF, but I doubt KH3 is going to any other platform.
I now own a PS4.Got no games for it though. Might be able to pick up Second Son soon. It's the only thing I want until 2015.Probably just gonna stick the thing in my closet for another six months.(It was on sale and it's better for me financially to spend the money at this time of year, it's less retarded than it sounds. I'll be picking three or four things up on launch in the first half of next year.)

FF XIII on steam will be released October 9th.Rest of series scheduled for Spring 2015.Square Enix said:The FINAL FANTASY XIII trilogy is officially making its way to Windows PC starting on October 9th when the first game of the series will be made available on Steam, the Square Enix Online Store and other digital download services at a price of $15.99. Later next Spring, the rest of the games in the trilogy will be made available to complete the epic saga.
I'm surprised as many people are hyped for XV considering how bad XIII was.I'm pumped myself actually. Looks great. If there's one thing I want, it's that Gilgamesh is in this game as well.
That's the entire point. We're hyped for XV BECAUSE XIII was bad. We've been waiting for a good game this entire time the XIII travesty has been going on. Different team, different direction, ended up even being different engine and console. There's no reason to assume the quality will be related.
Wish I could feel the same way. Part of XIII being underwhelming was because it was rushed/incomplete (as evidenced by XIII-2). In an even more expensive and time-consuming industry, no real reason to believe that there isn't a possibility for that to happen to XV. Don't blame people in the slightest for being apprehensive (especially after what they tried with XIV).Doesn't help that Square Enix isn't a company I have all the confidence in the world in. Then again I don't have much of an attachment to Final Fantasy or anything SE for that matter. I just hope XV winds up decent (and by that I mean $60+ dollars decent).
Yeah, if anything, it seems to me like they're trying to do it "the old fashioned way", finishing the whole thing they planned from the start and adding everything they want with the quality they're aiming at, and it's a lot harder + taking a lot longer than the previous generations and they're having trouble going the distance.
There's that, but it's not the only thing I'm concerned about. However, I'd rather not continue being a downer about it.Really big article with lots of reading.http://gematsu.com/2014/09/final-fantasy-xv-director-talks-development-open-world-combat-demoSummary:Quote- Game is 55% done from the two years new director Hajime Tabata has been working on it.- Graphical quality is at 70%- Dev team is around 200-300- Game is open world- Weather has an effect on attacks- 30 minutes real time = 1 day game time- Travel by car- All male party; only Noctis is playable.- Time and weather mechanics will be in the demo

However, I'd rather not continue being a downer about it.If you're thinking they might drop it or shelve it or something like that, they've gone way too far for that. The last few videos from TGS are fucking gorgeous, with the visuals, details, lighting, effects and the way the characters moves. No way this just trails off and disappears now.

Something tells me I'll still not play this game. Final Fantasy is so far away from it's RPG roots that I might not be able to get into these games anymore.
Yeah, I'm probably worrying too much. Barring extraordinary circumstances, worst case scenario it becomes as polarizing as XIII (which although not "great" wasn't unplayable garbage). That said,Cazaki said, September 23, 2014, 06:06:31 pmSomething tells me I'll still not play this game. Final Fantasy is so far away from it's RPG roots that I might not be able to get into these games anymore. That's the point; they don't want to make the same thing over again. In the interview it was said that repeating the same formula would result in the franchise becoming stale. I do agree with the approach they're taking, even it if does wind up displeasing a lot of people who want it to stay in it's roots. Of course execution will determine if it was a good thing or not.
You know? The FF games people liked most (excepting FFVI) were "okay" to me, like FFVII, FFIX... and the games people hated with all heart are my favorites (VIII, XII, XIII).So if it is any indication, if XV ends being bad I'll be completely sure I'll like it :p
