Aye, just when I was starting to feel better about it.http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-09-22-meet-hajime-tabata-final-fantasys-latest-saviour?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialoomphQuoteTabata's also in pursuit of a Final Fantasy that's not as overwhelming as its predecessors, and one that can be enjoyed by a broader audience. "With Final Fantasy 15, I do want to make it more casual," he says. "Of course the depth of the game is going to be there, but I want to make it so players can easily experience the satisfaction of the depth of the game." There's an option to set that car to drive itself, allowing players to sit back and take in the sights - although there is also an option to drive it manually, should they want to engage more fully with the world."Another example is in the combat," explains Tabata. "With the hardware specifications of the newer consoles, it's possible to set it up so you have different enemies and different choices of attacks you can enter in, but I want to simplify that. It'll basically be a one-button action, and the AI intuitively outputs an action that kind of satisfies, gives you that instant gratification, and it connects with the simple touch of a button. I myself am not getting any younger. I don't want to be frantically pushing buttons. I also want to utilise the intelligence of the hardware spec, and not have to go through too much hassle or trouble in order to execute moves."All for more accessible, but not sure if want.
Well, certainly selecting> ATTACK_MAGIC_ITEMLike a madman for the past 27 years hasn't been a problem for me, and it won't be a problem now.
Renzo F said, September 23, 2014, 07:04:41 pmthe games people hated with all heart are my favorites (VIII, XII, XIII).I didn't hate XII but I really didn't like Vaan. Hurts more when you learn Balthier was supposed to be the main char but Vaan was shoved in there later on to fit the "average FF fan" demographic at the time, demoting Balthier to party member status.Figures one of the more developed characters in the story, and one of the coolest, gets internally upstaged by whatever person thought Advent Children was a good movie. hueNow, it's the salt talking, but at the same time it's pretty terrible. Like, if Vaan at least had a personality in his own game (Dissidia 012 made Vaan pretty cool), he could've made the game a lot more bearable. He's just there to be... there.Never played Revenant Wings though so I dunno about that. Heard it was weird but I wanna play it.Good thing XII itself was good, wish they ported it for Vita so I could play it anywhere. Great timesink.
TempesT said, September 24, 2014, 01:25:57 amlol why would you want a game that plays itself. lol why would you want a game where all you do is hit X.XII provided the same mechanics and saved on the thumb strain. Mashing the attack button on a menu screen is not enjoyable or skillful, nothing is lost by automating it. I took control when I actually had to do something more complicated. Against enemies I could kill without looking at the screen, why should I need to push buttons? It's the same kind of autopilot. It just took my poor abused X button out of the equation.
TempesT said, September 24, 2014, 01:25:57 amlol why would you want a game that plays itself. THE STORYLINE. I can't imagine anyone finds turn-based gameplay to be exciting especially after you have seen all of the attack animations.
I find turn-based gameplay exciting the same way I find ANY gameplay exciting - through proper use of mechanics and sufficient challenge.
TempesT said, September 24, 2014, 01:25:57 amlol why would you want a game that plays itself. So I don't have to frantically push buttons? I was trying to be optimistic but... yeah, this sounds awful. And they said it couldn't possibly be more dumbed down than XIII, amazing.
Complaining about FFXII playing itself is just about the same complaint as beating KH games by just mashing the attack button. It's all highly exaggerated.
Well, the JP playerbase hate the idea too and started a petition to get SE to change the battle system so it can be less "video" and more "game."
I honestly wouldn't read too much into an interview quote. It could mean any number of things. The way I interpreted it was it was an option. Gonna be super disappointed if it isn't, but this is far from confirmation.
Man a pettition this far into development? do they want it delayed for 2 more years? Sometimes I think people don't realize the effects of what they are asking would be.
I’m looking forward to Type-0 and 15 and in a much bigger way then when I felt for 13 (Even though I think 13 gets bashed for what’s wrong and no one talks about the good and yes there was a lot of good!). I don’t like to judge games till I get them and have a feel for them but I think these games will be great regardless.
