this personally doesn't feel to ff' like to me.  you should probably take a look at ffx, ffxiii, and dissidia's main menus and base it off those

I guess it depends on your FF's because the ones I have for ps1 don't look like that.  and for mugen it seems a bit plain. but as rizki said it was just for fun
