Gamepad Help

I am running a ps3 compatible wired controller on a Windows Vista PC. Works perfectly. All the buttons light up correctly in the Test screen under the game controllers screen in Control Panel and I've tested it in several PC games.

However, when I load up Mugen and try to configure the inputs, only the buttons work, the directional controls are not detected. This is not an analog stick.

I've tried Joy2Key but it doesn't pick up the controller at all.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

try an xbox360 controller (wired). they have usb plugs, and theyre made by microsoft so they naturally are going to work with a pc. and all you need to do is download the driver for them  and plug it in. and it works with mugen, i would know because its what I use. xD

anyways, to fix your problem, make sure you have the driver for it installed correctly and make sure its a vista driver not a xp driver.

No driver to install, it worked out of the box. Works with everything except Mugen.

does it say on the box "Works With Vista"? if it doesn't, it might be the reason

if it doesnt say that, it means it might work on some programs but not definitely all programs

if it says it does work with vista, i dont know the problem

No idea.

It shouldn't matter what it works with, if it works perfectly at the test setting of the game controller setting then the OS should handle it.

no because sometimes theres compatibility issues with vista
like sometimes a program (or in this case a controller) works and sometimes it doesnt.

unless it says "works with vista" on it. then it works no matter what

anyways the logo for it kinda looks like the "Made for Windows XP" logo but in silver.
