i think global warming will cause global cooling:1st if the ice in the polar regions melt it well disturb the sea current: melted ice = cool water + mix with your normal temperature sea =disruption of sea current = less movement of sea = faster freezing of the sea = ice age = death.
if the Dutch push back the ocean, where do you thing the water will go? I think it will flow to the other sides of the world, so every square meter of dry land they gain means we all lose part of our beaches, this is a new and smart form of imperialism
Shamrock, the Hard Mod said, October 29, 2009, 05:13:12 amBuilding better ways to push back the ocean like they have done in Europe would be a good start. Who's gonna pay to put a wall up along the entire eastern seaboard? And pacific coast too? That will never happen. The rise in sea level would be a lot more than any levee could deal with. But it's not the sea level that you have to worry about. I'm too tired to go through all the steps, but when too much fresh water (which is what frozen glaciers are) fills the ocean the whole weather system changes, and only those living near the equator will be able to survive, and even at that it will be arctic-like. And we did play the leading role in this, regardless of the natural CO2 cycle. Billions of people will die, but we won't go extinct. No it makes it melt. I understand the other problems again india running out of freshwater. But you are wrong about the entire eastern seaboard. There isn't enough glacier to make the water rise more than 20 feet. Most places in the united states are currently above 20ft of sea level. Florida on the other hand would mostly disappear. We would finally get revenge on them for making us watch that shit about hanging chads.
Shamrock, the Hard Mod said, October 29, 2009, 06:06:58 amWe try to do that here but we don't like to spend money for stuff like infrastructure. I wouldn't trust the US gov with anything regarding weather-relevant infrastructure for a while. After all, they didn't seem to learn that much after the whole Katrina mess. I just hope Obama's health care reform is approved so he can start something along these lines.
This is not more realistic than when Paco Rabanne said the the Russian MIR station would fall on Paris and destroy it.
Well, as we know from Futurama, these two are bound to cancel each other out some time soon. So, everything is all right
you know, that's something i don't care, because no matter what you dop, the most people don't care about anything, till the begin to moan, why their flats are brimming with water. The only thing that i can enjoy is to see, that these people fuck each other up.Am i realistic?
Well, those who will eventually sink and drown because of water level are the poor people who have asked nothing to nobody, and who don't have power. Those who have contributed to Global Warming (did you know that on average, an American consumes twice more energy than any other Western country citizen) will still be rich and be able to survive and won't care for shit, as they'll buy the material to live in a comfortable way.I also like how the USA (industry sector, mostly) consumes by itself 25% of the world's energy. Get nuclear power plants GODDAMMIT !But why am I tl;dr anyway, it's not even proven for sure that man activity has had a real effect on the warming. It's sure they've had one, but is it substantial enough to create all this fuss ? It's not sure, as the raise and lowing of temperatures has been going on for thousands of years (I'm not talking about the insignificant 25 years cycles, but the real era ones), and Dinosaurs surely weren't for anything in global warming.
Even if man didn't have a significant effect on global warming - why not switch to sustainable energy?Right now, people around the world are working on and succeeding in making amazing innovations in sustaining the environment. Plants all dead? Seed bank in Europe. Out of plastic? We can nearly grow plastic on trees. CO2? Artificial trees trap 800kg of carbon in themselves, plant near energy plants. There are plans. People may die from heat strokes and storms, but we're trying right now to reduce those numbers. People have already died. Look up the black saturday bushfires. And sure - the weather's going to get a bit more annoying. But we are WORKING on it. We won't switch to a stone age lifestyle, but neither will we just throw our rubbish in the gutter like we do now.By the way, it's times like these I'm glad I'm Australian. We can take the heat here. We've been doing it for years. People from Arizona and California would probably know what I'm saying.

Is there where I point out that most countries live off of the united states in some fashion? They are contributing to it as well, they just hide behind, "It is the US's fault"
