Big wig comic book writer Goyer was recently in a podcast where he claimed She hulk ( described as slut hulk ) was just a pornographic fantasy. He then proceeded ot claim that anyone that knew who Martian Manhunter was ,was a virgin loser.Being the man that is going to adapt Wonderwoman to the screen and in charge of the JLA movies this has caused a uproar amidst the comic book communities, who think he isnt fit to be writing to the public.www.themarysue.com/david-goyer-calls-she-hulk-sex-fantasy/QuoteGoyer: I have a theory about She-Hulk. Which was created by a man, right? And at the time in particular I think 95% of comic book readers were men and certainly almost all of the comic book writers were men. So the Hulk was this classic male power fantasy. It’s like, most of the people reading comic books were these people like me who were just these little kids getting the shit kicked out of them every day… And so then they created She-Huk, right? Who was still smart… I think She-Hulk is the chick that you could fuck if you were Hulk, you know what I’m saying? … She-Hulk was the extension of the male power fantasy. So it’s like if I’m going to be this geek who becomes the Hulk then let’s create a giant green porn star that only the Hulk could fuck.Quote"How many people in the audience have heard of Martian Manhunter?" After hearing some light applause and cheers, he added, "How many people that raised their hands have ever been laid?"im not even going to dwelve in the "attempted" feminism angle he was going for, considering how much he botched that too. He showed zero knowledge of both the character and the thematics that it has been through the years( also the large female fanbase that enjoy the character).Stan lee, the co creator of she hulk has since been interviewed about this, calling Goyer a Nut.http://uproxx.com/gammasquad/2014/05/stan-lee-responds-to-david-goyer-she-hulk-comments/Now the podcast co host has come forward trying to claim that his and Goyer comments were feminist and defending women by pointing out how sexualized she hulk was, while showing to still knowing nothing about the character.http://observationdeck.io9.com/apology-halfassed-from-craig-mazin-over-she-hulk-com-1580450599/+burtreynoldsismyspiritguide1This guy is angry, angry that everyone is not recognizing how much a saint for women he is.This whole thing has potential to blow up in the face of several very terrible writers and the comic book community is mulling over it.
Please, pretty pretty please with sugar on top let this blow up HARD on their face.DC Film universe needs much better writers, and I can't stand the idea of this fool writing Wonder Woman.
Why can't these guys get someone who actually gets the Justice League, especially Wonder Woman? It it because he's in a position of power that he can say this crap and think that it won't bite him in the ass?I mean, as someone who loved watching The Justice League growing up, this is just insanity. It's like a bigot writing the character of Black Panther, not knowing (or caring about) a thing about the character other then he's a black and making him an offensive black stereotype.
Isn't it a bit pot calling the kettle black since Wonder Woman was created with that bondage weakness and all that?
Looks like someone wants to get the movie version of "DC vs. Marvel war" too far. Probaly said that with a purpose to get more attention because of all DC movies he's going to make and already made
He did blade 1, 2 and 3, Batman Begins and Man of steel. He is going to do Dawn of justice and the jla movie. The guy cohosting with him was the one that signed off on "not another super hero movie"Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
Yeah, that appears in his IMDB profile. The Blade trilogy looks so strange beside all DC movies he made and will make already, it's like "I never thought this guy also made something for the rival company"...Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty...just like Koopakoot in MUGEN, only being known for his KOF chars but strangely also made Zangief and Bulleta
Those comments are really distrusting and it is profoundly disturbing that those two sincerely believe they're the "good guys fighting for equality".I mean, yeah, She-Hulk has been drawn pretty... unfortunately... many times in her history. But that's not the entirety of the character, and it's a disservice to dismiss her like that and demean all of her fans. She is one of comics best female superheroes, and Marvel had recognized that, even from the beginning:QuoteEven shortly after her debut, She-Hulk was referred to in a newspaper article about Marvel’s growing roster of female characters as “definitely a feminist,” with Marvel’s Stan Lee proudly claiming with his typical bombast that she was created specifically to take advantage of the growing number of women reading comics. That, and likely to secure a trademark, just like Supergirl, another well-known hero’s cousin.She-Hulk is a sexually liberated, boisterous, outgoing woman who kicks ass. She's great, and fuck Goyer and Mazin. This is a really good article about how She-Hulk is a great feminist super-hero.And one of my favorite comic bloggers, Chris Sims, weighed in on the issue, while also delving into Goyer's completely idiotic statements about Martian Manhunter, and lambasting him for his overall attitude to his audience and the very subject he works on.They're really great, I highly recommend them.Dalek Basara said, May 23, 2014, 05:04:50 pmLooks like someone wants to get the movie version of "DC vs. Marvel war" too far. William Moulton Marston, her creator (and also inventor of the lie detector!) truly believed in most of the stuff he was writing in Wonder Woman: that bondage is a healthy sexual activity, and that submission was necessary for stability and peace; that masculinity was inherently a violent and destructive force; and that femininity was a force for peace and love. And thus Wonder Woman, hailing from a utopia of only women, is an ambassador for peace, who solves her problems not with her fists but with her love and compassion (and that is borne out by how often she rehabilitates her foes, compared to the revolving door of other super-heroes' rogues galleries).Later writers quickly dumped most of these pretty radical ideas, and downplayed the bondage stuff.Dalek Basara said, May 23, 2014, 05:58:36 pmYeah, that appears in his IMDB profile. Now that he's been tapped as the main writer for the DCCU, he might feel the other way, though.
