The Read Me text file is in Japanese and my attempts to get it translated have been foiled.

The problem seems to be my notepad program (for viewing system.def and similar) screws up some of the Japanese text inside, and I get an error message about not being able to do something with the system.def file.

Here is the screenpack:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/7q0bvtfnzdf
And the website (first one):
http://mugendoori.web.fc2.com/

The file is <10mb so it hopefully isn't a hassle. The read me file is in there. If anyone could help me out it would be IMMENSELY appreciated.

Oh, and I hope I'm allowed to post links like that, this is my first post. :P

The first link doesn't work. It's just my Firefox.

Since most people here do not use japanese computers, the notepad will not read japanese characters and that cause crashes.

I'll just take a random screenpack and see how it works then...

Ok, here's what you do:

Go into the screenpack's font folder and rename the 2 font files that are causing the trouble,(they have funny characters) (rename them to something that you like)

Next open the system.def of the screenpack and find this:
Quote
[Files]
spr             = sff/system.sff          ;Žg—p‚·‚éƒVƒXƒeƒ€SFF‚ÌŽw’è
snd             = data/TA/snd/system.snd             ;Žg—p‚·‚éƒVƒXƒeƒ€ƒTƒEƒ“ƒh‚ÌŽw’è
logo.storyboard          = LOGO.def          ;ƒ[ƒfƒBƒ“ƒO‰æ–Ê‚ÌDEF‚ÌŽw’è
intro.storyboard          = ;arcana2op.def
select             = select.def          ;ƒZƒŒƒNƒg‰æ–Ê‚ÌDEF‚ÌŽw’è
fight             = TA_Lifebar_pc/fight.def       ;ƒ‰ƒCƒtƒo[‚ÌDEF‚ÌŽw’è
font1             = font/7x9.fnt          ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font2             = font/7x7.fnt          ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è@ƒƒjƒ…[‰æ–Ê
font3             = font/name-ta.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è@ƒZƒŒƒNƒg‰æ–ʃ‚[ƒh–¼
font4             = font/namefnt.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font5             = font/namefnta.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font6             = font/ƒƒjƒ…[¬•¶Žš.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font7             = font/ƒƒjƒ…[‘啶Žš.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font8             = font/name-ta.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font9             = font/7x9.fnt          ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è@ƒƒjƒ…[‰æ–Ê
And simply rename font 6 and 7 according to what you name the font files earlier:

Quote
[Files]
spr             = sff/system.sff          ;Žg—p‚·‚éƒVƒXƒeƒ€SFF‚ÌŽw’è
snd             = data/TA/snd/system.snd             ;Žg—p‚·‚éƒVƒXƒeƒ€ƒTƒEƒ“ƒh‚ÌŽw’è
logo.storyboard          = LOGO.def          ;ƒ[ƒfƒBƒ“ƒO‰æ–Ê‚ÌDEF‚ÌŽw’è
intro.storyboard          = ;arcana2op.def
select             = select.def          ;ƒZƒŒƒNƒg‰æ–Ê‚ÌDEF‚ÌŽw’è
fight             = TA_Lifebar_pc/fight.def       ;ƒ‰ƒCƒtƒo[‚ÌDEF‚ÌŽw’è
font1             = font/7x9.fnt          ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font2             = font/7x7.fnt          ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è@ƒƒjƒ…[‰æ–Ê
font3             = font/name-ta.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è@ƒZƒŒƒNƒg‰æ–ʃ‚[ƒh–¼
font4             = font/namefnt.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font5             = font/namefnta.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font6             = font/MYNEWNAME.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font7             = font/MYNEWNAME2.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font8             = font/name-ta.fnt       ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è
font9             = font/7x9.fnt          ;ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg‚ÌŽw’è@ƒƒjƒ…[‰æ–Ê

Thank you so much! I am now to the point where I can run it fine and the main menu looks great. Only one problem: It's way to big for my window...

On the character selection screen I am only seeing the top left of the screen and the rest goes off of the page. Any help with this one?

Edit: Actually there is one more error: http://i44.tinypic.com/1zxkwtk.jpg

Can someone help me fix this?

You are using a high-res screenpack on a low-res default mugen. Change to a different hi-res version of mugen. You can try randomselect.com.

As for the other problem : You have set the low-res into a high res, I've forgotten the solution unfortunately. But IIRC, look at that stage.def file, if there is a line called doubleres = 1,2,4 (any of these numbers), remove that line.

Oh, lol I made a stupid mistake. The mugen I am using is from randomselect.com but I downloaded the "stages only" version :P

I should have used mugen+

As for that stage.def thing, I can't even find stage.def but I'll update this after I change to mugen+ and see if that is automatically fixed.

Usually yes, it starts low-res at default. If you find there are stages where the characters just stay floated in midair, add Doubleres = 1 to the stage.def.

Did you download and test this for me? If you did was there music playing on the menu, and versus screen?

If not, how could I add that?

Downloaded, but not yet tested. You can expect my answer pretty soon.

Sorry for bothering you with these questions, I'm glad I'm learning the ropes around here with mugen. I am not using that screenpack anymore. I've found a few I like better here on the guild.

This is my newest question and I should probably make a new topic or search through old ones to find an answer.

Is it possible to use more than one screen pack, but use .bat files or something else to boot into the one you want? I also have a "screenpack selectorv2" but don't know how it works because the readme isn't to detailed.

You don't need to test it :P but you could inform me on how to add my own music to the different screens =D

Edit: What I'm trying to say is that with multiple screenpacks wouldn't the fonts overwrite each other and the same for some other things? Is there a valid way to separate them?

1.Well, there's a tool that you can use to switch screenpacks on the fly but I don't know the name or where to get it, but you can ask Shamrock.

2.To put music in the screenpack's main, select, vs screens do this:
Go the screenpack folder and open up its system.def file and look for this lines:

Quote
[Music]
title.bgm            = data/NAMEOFSCREENPACK/TITLE.mp3
title.bgm.loop    = 1
select.bgm       = data/NAMEOFSCREENPACK/Select.mp3
select.bgm.loop    = 1
vs.bgm       = data/NAMEOFSCREENPACK/vs.mp3
vs.bgm.loop    =0
And just put you mp3 or whatever you using in the screenpacks' folder.

Basically what he said. Just make sure the url for the music is correct.
