Hey, i've long time since i registered in here and this is my second post in many many years i think.

I have some doubts about the new MUGEN RC8, since its has been a while i've been away from the MUGEN world i'd like to know some stuff about this new release, in order to make a Screenpack for a game project.

My questions are these:

1) Does the new Mugen allow the use of .png instead of .pcx sprites?
2) If that's the case, what .sff editor may i use to do the .png's .sff?
3) Whats the resolution of this new mugen? 1280x720?

Well, that's all... i hope you can help me and many many thanks in advance.

1) Actually, as long as you index them, you could always do so.
2) Using Fighter Factory SP3, or if you're feeling fancy you could try using SFF2.
3) Any resolution, but the default is 1280x720

You have to use sprmake2, the default tool in the Mugen folder. I'd recommend using cmd to run it.

Shamelessly, myself said:
  • Open up cmd by using the run command in your start menu.
  • By typing the command "cd" and the folder you want to go to direct yourself to your main mugen folder. (The one with mugen.exe and sprmake2.exe.)
(If you need to back up from a folder use ".." instead of the name of the folder.)
  • Type in sprmake2.exe and from there it will tell you the instructions.
  • To make things easier on yourself, copy the system folder from the mugen1 folder, in work, into the main mugen folder and name it SFF2. (You can name it whatever you want, I'm just using this as an example.)
  • Put all of the images you want into that folder, you can delete the current images in the folder only if your replacing all of those files or are making a stage.
  • Open up the system-sff.def file and define the output filename. (Change the directory after the "filename =" to wherever you want your sff file to go.)
    • Now comes the hardest part, under [Sprite] define all of the images in the current folder in this order: group number, sprite number, filename and extension name, X position, and Y position. Make sure to use commas to separate them just like the examples already provided in the def file.
    • Save the def file.
    • Now all you have to do is compile the sff, go back to your cmd window and type in "sprmake2.exe" then type the path, from your main mugen folder, to the folder with all of your images, in this case SFF2, then add system-sff.def to the end of it.
    • Then your all finished, your newly created SFF2 should be in the exact folder you defined in the system-sff.def after being compiled.
