yes your opinion is toxic, insofar as you would dismiss the idea of intellectual property as bullshit lol, but thats another story.

i go through this a lot with people who think most takedown notices are hot air cause they are not enforced, which is true. a lot of this stuff isnt worth the time and effort to physically remove off the internet. but thats not wht i am arguing. i am defending his decision as the right thing to do. its not a worthy crusade to fight against ecole over this. in fact they prob dont care enough to do shit, but the fact they did hand out the deletion request through mediafire which legally requires valid notification that you are the copyright holder/authorized to act on their behalf. (can be found at https://www.mediafire.com/policy_violation/copyright.php, please do your research, not just "anybody" can submit these claims. and im not sure how it could be considered a bogus claim in that he prob didnt get permission to use their art.) is enough to tell you theyre aware of the content and thats a red flag to most people.

You don't understand the reality and seriousness of intellectual property law. It is their copyrighted property. They are within rights to use whatever they want to enforce it. Whether they should be doing this is another issue, it leads to a lot of grey area and arguments about censorship. However, it doesnt matter if they did it, mf did it or if they even care. It doesnt matter if other people didnt get targeted for it. The fact remains they have the right to pursue it if someone uses it without permission. If you are person who respects the idea of copyright and intellectual property, and the severity it can entail, it doesnt matter. Because its not bullshit. No matter what your random weird ideas of bullshit are, it crumbles before the actual fine print and the law lol.

I understand your passion, but what you are saying would not matter if the company were to pursue it. He's free to do what he wants here, but I am in total support of his decision as someone with a respect for the consequences that could arise were they to pursue it. You are complaining that somebody isnt taking a gamble that could mean some harsh consequences, because of circumstantial evidence that isnt even validated or proven.

So sad to see that. But oh well, it's your choice anyways.

I mean, unless the company says so, you can do whatever you want in MUGEN (with some exceptions iirc) as it is considered "fan art" or something like that. As long as you're not earning anything on your characters, it should be OK.

If your problem is Mediafire or so, then I recommend hosting it somewhere else.

You may want to consider about leaving MUGEN.

But if in the end you still don't want to do it, then that's cool with me and should be so with everybody else.

I am not complaining I am simply explaining how this is viewed to me. I do not believe that mediafire thing cause when I got my take down stuff I called them and they reviewed their info and there was no proof of anything so someone was able to get through without it being legit. I know how the law works if the company actually wants it down it will go down if you fight it and its the actual company you could get in trouble but they will have to fully verify who they are. It is always good to question these and not just accept them to get the full details like. "Is this the actual company?" "why are they targetting me?" etc. If it was the actual company you better believe they would target everyone who is doing this and not just this guy. I do not see how you think this can be irrelevant when it makes no sense to just go after one guy? I mean why would they do that? They would target all of us who are creating content out of their work not just him. This is why I believe its false.

Well, to be fair, Laharl: Ecole already targetted multiple Mugenites in Japan because of their content.
I could understand it back then, because Under Night In-Birth was still fresh back then, but I'm suprised that Ecole actually did not stopped the targetting.

Yes Under night in birth is something they seem to care about currently. ~~MB is not as far as I know.~~

I retract my previous statement it seems They are just NOW deciding to go after people out of nowhere after all this time.

This is what happens when a company goes completely awol and decides to strike fear down peoples throats by playing top dog, and abusing any and all legal copyright means to maintain dominance.

First time I've seen a company so active in shutting MUGEN things down. What puzzles me more about this is why the hell has Ecole taken so long to do this when the could've done it since Drowin's Kouma, which was like... what, over 8 years ago? ww

I think the main issue is how this came out of nowhere.

I don't think Furapan has a say in the matter as those aren't exactly their games. In a developer standpoint, yes, but at the core they are still a doujin soft circle. In a legal standpoint, no. So even if they were against this, nothing would happen unless legal ties were broken.

Aren't you being somewhat selfish guys, ecole are being a dicks but advising him to ignore their warning is somewhat stupid, what you want to make him Mugen martyr, I don't want him to be so kind of internet jesus of fighting game, my thought would be to quit doing melty blood characters but why quit altogether, there are plenty of interesting characters to be converted into pots style, perhaps you could go in this direction, mb is not the only game out there. If you can have fun with Mugen, create so cool content and let us enjoy it so too, just stay safe mate!

Maybe he's not interested in converting other characters. I don't get what's so unreasonable about that, but that's just me.

Anyway, hopefully Ecole loosens up because I'm not seeing any real beneficial motive in doing this. I don't see what they possibly have to gain by suddenly removing one of the few gaming outlets they have.

Sennou I really hope you are reading this. It doesn't matter if mediafire goes. Hell just use skydrive. 9 did it, his site went down, but all of his works are still alive.

And that is you're possibly pressuring him to come back to MUGEN.

Although I might have said it's sad for him to go, and have told him about other uploading servers I also stated that if he still doesn't want to come back then it is fine with me and SHOULD be so with everybody else here.

Let's have a bit of common sense here and understand what he's going through, if he doesn't want it then stop trying to make it happen, it's not going to happen. Finito.

Know how you feel, but you cannot force an author to come back if he doesn't want to deal with problems like this.

Sennou is free to choose to leave if he sees it fitting, we cannot force him to comeback if he doesn't want to (same with 9 if that was the case, though in part I'll be a bit sad, since I wanted to see Sion, White Len and V. Akiha on MBAAACC mode).

All we can wait is to let this situation fade out by itself (as far as I know, there was a similar situation like this in Japan with another company that I don't recall currently, but they let it die with the time, takes weeks or months for this to happen, though).

Lets hope time is kind to the community. I too would like to see 9's MBAACC versions of Sion, W.Len and Akiha V, hell I'd be surprised if he did CIEL (The one character he HATES. Seriously who would hate Good ol. India?)
