I don't see what's so bad about the star being permanent?
Why can this great guy, and this amazing member have permanent stars over a small challenge which not everyone knows of but yet these stars have so much discussion over their time period and how they shouldn't be shown off that long?

We should take those stars away and use them for another contest or something. In fact I'm gonna go post about this in Decisions.

I looked up that WLS challenge thing and it seemed pretty difficult and contrived, seemed to warrant some sort of award cause there was some hard work put into it by the looks of it. That being said I don't understand how it warrants a permanent star and COTY doesnt

Hey man I'm all for having that WLS star, and I used that example to show that these COTM/Y ones should be long too, I never intended to raise awareness to delete them. :(

if "both forever" doesn't win i find it extremely hard to justify the wls stars staying (they've been there for longer than a year at this point)

When I created the WLS stars my plan was to hold different types of contests in order to keep cycling them (extend awards all the way to graphics, coding challenges, stuff like this).

My plan failed when school got real hard on me and stopped having the free time to come up with said contests, but my intention was having users feel proud for having accomplished things. COTY and COTM follow this spirit :)

Sorry for letting them go like that, I had really great plans for those.
