The official release of dragon ball z is both the original cartoons and the merchandise they put out.

I don't watch abridged, sorry for not knowing.

"Please support the official product" is an extremely common phrase in anything like fansub, scanlation etc. This one is a bit unspecific and is phrased like there's just one thing called DBZ though, but that was 30 years ago. Adding "... official DBZ products" (or "support the official releases") would be less confusing.
