Further discussion about this with other artists make me believe that the comments are real, the dude once had a tv show that was about him going to live in a frat house like a "normal teenager".
He was back in his parents house in two days because he refused to cook for himself.
Some points were brought up that are very true, he drew like shit back in 2008, ( dev art account) chances are, they paid someone to draw the comic under the guy supervision, put the guy name on it to sell better.

Am I the only person who doesn't see a trace. The angle between those to drawings is different. The heads have similar features but one is lightly a different angle.

Trace? nah. That is a free hand of a guy with the same features.

Going by your interpretation the guy probably went "HEY I AM GETTING PAID $50 FOR THE WHOLE THING AND THIS KID WILL GET ROYALTIES, LET'S TRY TO SCREW HIM OVER! PLAGIARISM TIME!". Said guy, should he exist, has a sick, twisted mind and enough balls to go through what it says.
