Spoiler: Not taking commissions at this time. (click to see content)Lets go career mode! Rates listed below.Out side of MUGEN I am a freelance Fine/Tattoo/Graphic artist. These being my only form of income its hard for me to justify the time spent on sprite work without pay(In my case, time is money, literally). I have tons of characters I would like to convert to SF3 style but will only be able to do the work through commissions.I am only interested in SF3 sprite work right now. If you have other requests just PM me and we'll see what we can workout. All commissions done one at a time. All work will be done until client is satisfied!Good chance there will be price breaks on characters I would really like to do too!Full SF3 Sprite sheet!I am not going to say that I am against doing full sprite sheets. What I can tell you is you would pay per animation and the rate per frame would be less than the prices listed below. This would also make it a lot easier to get a full character piece by piece with enough people joining in. PM with ideas and for rates.SF3 Sprite animations around $5 for the first frame, $3 for every additional frame. (Expect between 10 and 20 frames)Price Negotiable!SF3 Single sprite around $5(Properly sized and proportioned)Price Negotiable!SF3 Large Portraits around $15 (All portraits will be in Hi-res)Price Negotiable!Terezi Pyrope Portrait for JangoSpoiler, click to toggle visibilty
You possibly wanna drop your pricing on the animation per frame rate. Generally an additional frame is easier than the original. $5 for the first frame and $3 for each additional maybe.Still, you do fantastic animations and i hope you make some leeway with this.
I agree with what you are saying and will be droping the price for every additional frame. I appreciate the feedback! Thanks for the kind words.
Been sitting on this for a while it's not quite finished yet but I wanted to share it. Meet Bride One a original character that is inspired by a lot of my favorites things. I hope to make a full character of her after SF3 Strider. feet gear undecided...
interesting character, if she is a bride would you put her in a dress of some sort? she looks too much like strider at the moment but its not finished so yeah.
No she wont have a dress and she is not a bride. Bride is her name. She will be similar to Strider but with a different set of moves. The plan for her is to do a lot of experimenting mostly with animations to push my sprite and animation work. Hopefully establish my own style of work in the end. I am sure this sprite will evolve into something a lot different after everything is done. Bride is based on a character I have been planning out for a while, with any luck there will be a comic to go with her.
Alex S. said, May 08, 2013, 01:55:41 pmYou could use that concept to make some Midnight Bliss sprites for Strider Hiryu. That would be kind've silly if I am already planing on making her a full character. What if his midnight bliss sprites and her end up on the same screen at the same time? Some experimenting with a new special move. Still needs some fine tuning.
Starting a new SF3 Strider Hiryu portrait. Something old, something new, something borrowed. borrowed the layout/stance from some artwork I had found of him. Artist unknown. Posted: May 15, 2013, 09:43:41 amCame out kind've to close to the artwork I was referencing. not sure if I will be using it or not.
ink said, May 15, 2013, 05:46:07 amI'm assuming you are going for a third strike style portrait, I'm not going to tell you how to paint cause I don't know anything about painting but I think it is missing cast shadows in some areas, the shade colors need to be darker and I think it is lacking that overall brush feel. Looks really good though.
I have some ideas for Bride if you don't mind me sharing.Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyThe two swords(girls)men in Yatagarasu could be good for varying her moveset from Strider's if you go through with it.
Thanks man! those look really nice. I like the alt stance you made too.I have a lot of plans for moveset mostly based off that game and then some.
Some editing and a quick mock up later... I am pretty happy with the end results and will probably be using this as the new portrait.
Thanks man! I have been using Photoshop and ImageReady (CS2)The portraits are all hand drawn on paper to start.
I've been slacking on sharing my work...Started remaking SF3 Hiryu's turn animation. Many more frames still to go, but its a good start.
Great concept!By the way, will the scarf be like Strider's? I see it's smaller/"slimmer"...At the end of the round you could do a winpose where she puts on her scarf to the nose, like Strider (kind of like one of Ibuki's intro).
looks good. The ... intensity of the boob bounce is a tad distracting, But it looks like you've got her stance down. That's usually the hardest part.
Thanks guys! I am probably going to keep her pretty simple, more like a old side scroll character and probably not for MUGEN.All I am planning for her-stance animation-run animation-walk animation-Jump animation-one air attack -one ground attack -get hit animations-maybe a slideAlex Sinigaglia said, November 22, 2013, 05:23:22 pmGreat concept!By the way, will the scarf be like Strider's? That's usually the hardest part.I am sure the intensity of the boobs will get toned down a bit from what is seen here. Stances are pretty tough, definitely my favorite thing to animate though! I still need to get them feet moving!
I don't know, I might be a bit overanimated. It's almost like he's humping something, like a dog I greatly appreciate the fluidness you're giving this character but I don't think this one in particular is gonna work that well!

I am thinking that it looks a lot better with the animation slowed down and timed a bit different but this one still needs a lot of work. Thanks for the honest feedback!
Okay so long story short... I thought I would have the time to remake Ryo's CVS stance, a mix between both CVS and XIII. Judas beat me to it, did an amazing job making an alt XIII version.I still wanted to make my version at this point so I chopped up Judas' sprites and used them in parts of mine.I will not be able to finish these sprites anytime soon! Anyone who would like to use what I have so far or finish these up you are very welcomed to do so.Also posted here.
Hi Ink, I was looking through some of the sprites you have made. You have been working on CPS3 style for a long time and it really shows. ink said, December 06, 2013, 10:00:58 pmThis actually has had my laughing for about 10 minutes straight. I think as Balthazar pointed out, this does look very risqué! I kinda want to see this completed fully though because my childish side finds it very funny! Out of curiosity, why did you create an animation where he is thrusting amorously like a dog in heat?
It just needed some corrections. My work usually looks kind of weird at first, I spend most of my time polishing... And to be honest I usually sit on my work and don't share it.Still a lot to do on this animation. Side by side to show the changes made.
Man, I'm officially drunk(surprise!) and gotta say I'm jealous of your skills! But jealous ina good manner, you're superawesome and that! I wish your skills. And a Merry XMas!
ink said, December 24, 2013, 05:24:22 amDamn man, this animation is killer!ink said, December 24, 2013, 07:50:17 pmYep that crouch is a huge improvement.Keep these animations coming!
I don't think that I like the blue CVS looking effects with the orange hand-drawn effects look good together. Either the colors need to match or the art style needs to match for more cohesive looking hitspark.
Thanks for the feedback Drex. I was trying to mix it up a bit but I think you're right and similar color would work a lot better.Forgot to say these are based on sf3 hit sparks...
ink said, January 18, 2014, 07:10:04 pmForgot to say these are based on sf3 hit sparks...You didn't have to say, I think it is obvious to most Mugen users because SF3 is awesome !
I kinda like em. They're sort of in that middle ground between fully "low res" and fully "high res", and I think the blue mixed in adds a little something extra. I'd have to see them in action to get a better idea on if they work or not.
A bit of an update on this animation. Slowly polishing these to make them prefect, a lot more to go still.
So much win So lovely animated, looking very SF3-legit! The only thing standing out would be the hair, it's completely static versus, well, pretty much every other part that moves about.

I definitely have to get to animating the hair in both of his stances soon.Small update to mainly his knee/cloth. Next time I post this one it should be finished.
Finally got to do my first voxel piece! It was way more work the I thought it would be. I still need to mess with lighting to make it look more presentable. This was just for fun. nothing like this will appear in my Strider project.
I remember something like that for a Link sprite (I think).Voxel piece... hmmm... never heard of that.
Alex Sinigaglia said, March 07, 2014, 11:23:55 pmI remember something like that for a Link sprite (I think).Voxel piece... hmmm... never heard of that.Yeah, you usually see older pixel characters recreated this way. Mario, Megaman, Samus.I haven't really found anything useful to use voxel's for yet. Probably because I don't mess with any 3D projects..Navana said, March 07, 2014, 11:26:10 pmThis project is turning out REALLY good. Keep up the good work !Thanks man!
ink said, April 25, 2014, 05:03:35 amMaking progress! Just have to color separate this and clean it up.Smooth and lovely *_*!
Keep going ink!It might be just me but why is the movement on his pants repeated that way? You could make it less noticeable in the other frames.
The repeated movement in his pants is just a place holder. Each frame will be different, same idea but smoother.
ink said, April 25, 2014, 01:31:32 pmThe repeated movement in his pants is just a place holder. Each frame will be different, same idea but smoother. That's what I figured. there also appears to be some alignment issues at the end of the move. Also the wake changes shape at the end, it should stay flat instead of turning pointy.
Diepod- I agree. I was referencing his original animation but I know I will be changing the wake. Thanks for mentioning it, keeps me on my toes.
Had some free time to work on my Hiryu. Here's a rough animations that I figured would be worth showing. Its insane how much work went into this animation and it only plays for a few seconds! hahaDash forwardRun, starting and stopping. (not that, thats a sf3 thing to do!)
Nice work ink yet there some weird hand/ foot change in the first frames...I'm currently without tablet and can hardly work on this laptop so a small edit:
I see what you did there. it does look smoother but I like that slight jolt just before the hop. I did make some changes here and there though. slight update. the timing on the last few frames should be much faster then it appears here...
More progress on this dash animation. Some bugs to smooth out and a ton more work to finish this up but I thought would share.
ink said, October 30, 2014, 02:42:49 pmMore progress on this dash animation. Some bugs to smooth out and a ton more work to finish this up but I thought would share.God, that looks awesome! Can't wait to see it finished. If you don't mind me asking, how many sprites have you made for Strider so far and how many to go untill they're all made?
I have no idea. This animation alone is 10 new frames. Most of the work I have done so far is rough, kind've like this one. I haven't gone through and completely finished that many sprites yet. I am just getting them to a state that can be used and then I will polish them later.
Even if it's very fluid, it's easy to spot the base/reference...If you didn't check this, there's little footage of his gameplay from CFAS (the cancelled game): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5IZEHLEf9A(at 0:14)
I have gone through that footage and others in search of ideas. My plans for his new basic attacks will only use his one arm(for punches). I don't like the idea of his other arm needing to go back and forth between attacks.I was hoping any bases used would be harder to spot though...I'm wondering if it will look different enough once I finish it now. compared side by side they are a good bit different.
@ink: I wish you'd put those animations on deviantART, because I crazy wanna put them in my favorites.Aside from that, I'm lovin every single animation you've put out for Hiryu. Hope you see it through the end! (P.S Your Marvel vs. Capcom CPS3 idea is the best M.U.G.E.N. idea I've heard in a long time )
Thanks Black Hatter, I usually only put up completely finished pieces on deviantART. I'm sure they will make their way there eventually. Here's an update on that last animation. still a long way to go.
Oh yeah, that looks amazing, you're not even that far away from looking fully finished.Great job Inkster
Thanks guys! I have finally figured out a way to speed up the process that works well for me.Planning the animation is the only part that holds me up... i can never decide what attacks are going to work well for him.
Do you remember Diepod's sketches? Perhaps you could use those for the attacks.Spoiler: Diepod's sketches (click to see content)
I have similar plans for a couple of those worked out. I am think more basic, some of those look like they could be specials.
what kind of sorcery is this?Did any kind of automation come into play, or did you outline everything by hand?
I'm flattered that you would need to ask Walt! everything was drawn/outlined by hand. I am guessing you are asking because of how the sword turned out.Another update on that one.I wanted to see how his feet would look like this but I am definitely planning to make the bottoms of his feet brown.
That's some serious skills, you never cease to amaze me.My god, look at that sword, in a billion years I would get to something as smooth as that.
What's with Thedge, [E]maximillianjenus, and walt calling themselves "Bastard"?Anyways, I freakin love everything pixel-related you post. That animation is jaw-dropping. Keep it up, and good luck!

Thanks guys! Hopfully I will be able to "wow" you with my next ones too.I am working on another one now but probably won't get a chance to post it today.
Beautiful! That was Hiryu's punch from the ill-fated Capcom Fighting All-Stars, wasn't it?Bastard Walt said, November 13, 2014, 02:44:09 pmBlack Hatter said, November 13, 2014, 02:33:07 pmWhat's with Thedge, [E]maximillianjenus, and walt calling themselves "Bastard"?Just bandwagoning over someone in the Spanish thread, like we used to here at Guild back in the good old days.Ha. I'm working on a way to share it. hopefully I will have it all together soon. I know if I share it here you guys will be able to help me improve it.

I know if I share it here you guys will be able to help me improve it.that's cool, I can finish an animation in between 10 to 30 minutes prodvided it is already properly animated, but it takes me hours otherwise.
I wanted to post something about the process I am using for these. I will be sure to post more direction on this later too!
Holy shit. I am definitely saving these! But how did you go from Step 6 to 7? Did you use Kiwi's index grayscale method, because that's what it seems like to me. But hell, thanks anyways man!
For the most part. I know I do some stuff a little different though. And yes, I may have a hi-res grey Strider on my PC. hahaSketching out the full animation in the first step has been a huge help for me. I resize my base sprite to 1000% and then start sketching out the full animation using 1px line weight. and refine it later.Shading has gotten faster, now that I just circle the light areas with the Lasso tool.Once I have everything figured out I resize it back down to 10%I apply the Apply grayscale palette a bit different from Kiwi but its harder to explain.I do everything with a tablet now too. all the cleaning up will have to be done with the mouse but I always loved that part anyways.
I have to say that I'm also pretty curious about the color selecting method. Kind of hard to know how the mix will end up like.Still, this is a very interesting method, I might try it out some time~
