Is it even possible to make this stage?

I'm referring to this:

I want it just like that, as it appears in Chrono Trigger, with the "floor" being the bridge in the middle. This is the first time I tried to create a stage, and it didn't end well. I can only get them to fight at the bottom, and for some reason, the background doesn't even appear (I went through the process of optimizing the colors, saving, loading the new files, etc, but it only worked for the bridge).

I  figured I'd upload my SFF (and the def, why not), to make it easier for anyone willing to detect the many, many ways I'm evidently screwing up.

Yes, won't be the best, some characters will be headless (blackheart for eg)

Read through KFM's mountain stage or stage0.def. They at least tell you what all the lines do.

As for things not appearing, it's probably just an alignment issue. This is where tweak and try comes in. I haven't downloaded your stage as i'm unwilling to bugcheck it if it's those 2 issues.
