Hello, it's the captain....again. Anyway, I just recently found out HOW Reuben made his characters, and his dedication and the amount of work he put into it made me feel like my stuff was crap, so I will be making my characters using this method. I plan to post any problems I run into, and any tips I have for this method here, so....y'know...if you have tips, post 'em ;D that's all for now.

BEFORE you post any problem, remember to search for solution yourself.

First look into other creator's code, if you remember any character doing desired move/thing.
Then use search on MFG, MI  or other well known sites.
If first 2 didnt worked you can post Topic about your problem.

Well coded character is not enough to make it good, remember you need talent and own skills to make it decent.

What Human said. What Reuben had to his works was a certain sort of... rhythm. Sure, the characters were broken, but they were fun, and their presentation was top-notch.

Just like rhythm in music, it's not necessarily something that can be taught so much as it is a natural ability.

I meant Dragon Claw, BTW. And I probably should have specified that I meant problems with making a character using 3DS Max. And Jesus, I see what you mean by rythm. This isn't my first attempt at a character, but I'm basically taking all my ideas for that and doing them over. I'm going to do what I can, and learn from my mistakes, as is the MUGEN way. Thanks for caring. It won't be the greatest, I know, but I'll get better (hopefully).

Well, before making a char with 3DSMax, you already have to learn how to use 3DSMax first, and that may take more time than Mugen itself.
And you have to learn anatomy and things like that to do a good job in 3D.

Good luck.

Yes Sir! Thanks. I've looked over all of the tutorials, so right now I'm just trying to get the basics down.(and install 2011 because 2012 doesn't work right on my PC --; )

OKAY! So I've made some proof-o-concept headway, and I made a stupid-looking 3D model head and torso and did a quick animation with them.

I apologize for it being so huge. I'm new to forums in general and don't know how to do anything. (I had to google AND use youtube just to figure out how to post that one .GIF, and I'm not even sure it plays!)

OKAY! uh...yeah. So, I've noticed 2 problems off the bat. --; there seems to be a serious amount of color loss in the images, and by color loss I mean fading (just in case they aren't the same thing). This, and the background color for the images is black, and I don't know how to change that. Any tips?

Did you save them as png with transparent bg? Then did you try to convert that png to 256 colours with the proper index colours and a proper transparency colour for the sprite? There should be some color loss unless you know how to make 3d sprites that contains only 256 colours =3 - but this question could be asked in developmental help.

I did not set the BG to transparent, now I know to do so, so thanks. I DID set it to 256 colors, and interestingly enough, the Head model by itself showed the colors perfectly, but when I connected it to the body, the whole thing faded slightly when rendered.

Also, If any admin sees this and wants to move it, I'm okay with that.

hehe uh...so yeah, it's been a while, and I have made no headway whatsoever!! WOOOT! But I'm still learning these tutorials, and quickly too (Thanks Youtube). Should I change anything about this thread to make it more noticeable? (Title, something lulzy? maybe just some lights flashing really hard and dubstep? I needs answers)

No need to make it more noticeable. When you truly have progress (aka you've started to create sprites succesfully), create a thread in WiP section. And really, don't bump the thread just to say that you still are learning the tutorials.

I think you should post it in Projects when you have 25% of character
