jigsaw's been around the forum for like a decade by now, he's not new around here.i like the designs a lot. the french dude is a bit bland looking, but i think every game should have a simple design character to balance it out. not everybody should be fucking cool.
Thanks for comments, guys. I'm glad every one of the characters seem to be liked by at least someone, barring maybe French dude, but that's fine since I don't like him either. Judas' feedback actually gave me some good ideas though so hopefully you will see some updates soon.Judas, you're making me imagine something like Marvel's Hercules. Nothing I would have thought to do anything with myself - by 'wrestling' I meant specifically pro wrestling - but again, food for thought. Certainly not a bad idea for a Greek character.
well if you are going for a pro wrestling char i think a girl would be better since there is not many of them
Wow, these are really good! I should have checked this thread sooner! The military chick at the bottom is a bit scary though =o
LordSinistro: They're certainly less common, but they're not unheard of. Anyway, I'd have to think about it further.JNP: Thanks! She's not meant to look welcoming.

Fresh Style, uh? I really like the characters. They have charisma and they originality. Good luck.
Been kinda busy with other stuff lately, but managed to squeeze in a little time to work on some character designs. Haven't done any work on refining or reworking any ideas yet, still kind of churning out first drafts just to get my ideas in any kind of concrete form.Name: N/AOrigin: ???Fighting style: acrobatics-based martial artsDesign notes: moving away a bit from the cultural stereotype school of design, I wanted to come up with a character with a cool and unique moveset and I ended up getting inspiration from gymnastics, acrobatics, circus performance type stuff and whatnot. I imagine her being kind of a tricky character with unique movement options. Maybe her specials would be largely air based.Name: N/AOrigin: KoreaFighting style: TaekwondoDesign notes: Not much to say, this design sucks. I wanted to combine the typical taekwondo practitioner tropes with the kind of outlandish Kpop fashion which I guess is kind of associated with Korea these days (to me anyway, lol). Not at all happy with how this design turned out though, I didn't have a very clear idea when I started drawing and I didn't really have any reference on hand so I struggled to make him look different from Yuen rather than giving him an identity of his own. I'll give it another shot in the future.Name: NortonOrigin: USAFighting style: KarateDesign notes: Hulk Hogan + Chuck Norris + Mr. Karate = profit? This design is the culmination of a handful of different ideas. The first idea I had was basically "karate cowboy", which seemed appropriately silly for an American character. And aside from cowboys nothing seems more American than Hulk Hogan, so why not. The well-worn Hong Kong movie trope of western martial arts champions being henchmen also inspired me to subvert the All-American hero archetype and make him a villain instead (which is kind of where the Mr. Karate inspiration comes in). I reckon he would make a good right-hand man to whatever the final boss may be... but since he or she doesn't exist yet, for now this guy is the boss. I guess the "real" boss would be unveiled in the sequel As always thanks for looking, and I appreciate all feedback.
Sorry to put it so bluntly, but Cowboy Shoto didn't work on Ken, and it doesn't work on Norton. Those things don't mix Your lines and anatomy are great, though
Those are awesome :O!!The gimnastic fighting style you gave of that girl reminds me of Lili from Tekken, dunno why O_o! (and also to Mystique from her iteration at the X-Men movies!)
I think Norton would look better with cowboy jeans and spurred boots and instead of the karate shirt, have empty holsters around his waist. It'd be terribly generic, but still badass IMO. Your designs are awesome. I wish I could draw like you......
Thanks for the comments. walt: To each his own FeLo: Thanks! I was actually thinking of Zafina for some inspiration as well. But like every other of my characters, her moveset or fighting style isn't very fleshed out. A$AP Buckus: He may be a cowboy, but he is still a karateka and not a gunslinger. I was thinking about what kind of design elements I could implement, and how, but at the end of the day I didn't want to downplay the fact that he's supposed to be a karate master too far. As far as drawing skill goes, practice makes perfect.^^
give him boots, not fully visible boots, thouhg, just give him regualr cowboy boots but keep the pants big so they cover most of the boots.
I thought about boots, for a while I also considered giving him something like chaps or fringed lining on his pants like on the gloves... but again at the core I still want him to be a largely conventional karate character. I like juxtaposing that with the cowboy motif, but I don't want the karate aspect to only be defined by the attacks he uses. I intend to iterate and try out some design variations for all the characters though, so I'm sure you will see some version with boots eventually as well.
One more design cranked out...Name: KendraOrigin: USAFighting style: BoxingDesign notes: Tried to come up with a design for a boxer character that didn't just feel like old tired clichés. This is what I managed to come up with.
Thanks! OK, here's something a little different again... with the release of the new Killer Instinct, I thought I would try my hand at drawing my own version of KI3's launch lineup. And here's a little wallpaper I threw together with the whole bunch.Enjoy!
