Great stuff there. The Waist-Chest ratio on Sabrewulf really makes him stand out the way it should, good design choice
Walt: thanks! I felt it was important to really push the proportions for Sabrewulf to give him the right feel that I think is kind of missing from the KI3 version. Glad you like it. Daeron: thanks!
Jiggeh said, November 18, 2013, 09:45:26 pmOne more design cranked out...Name: KendraOrigin: USAFighting style: BoxingDesign notes: Tried to come up with a design for a boxer character that didn't just feel like old tired clichés. This is what I managed to come up with. She looks bad ass!! Great art you have here
Thanks Been a little busy so I neglected to post my latest work:I've noticed that for some reason Picasa seems to mess up the quality of pictures I upload... so to see the full size and some alternate versions, please check out my deviantArt page!Speaking of which, today I'm starting a little project on my dA page: to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Capcom, every day in December I'll be posting a new picture from a Capcom game! I might post the pictures here later but it's a little too much work to be posting here every day, so if you want to see each new picture as it's posted, I recommend you follow my dA page or my Tumblr.
The Capcom game idea looks great, looking at it on dAreminds me that the MegaMan 25th Anniversary year ends in 16 days.
Juli's face gives me that rapeface vibe (and a Falcoon vibe for some odd reason).Definitely following this (don't have accounts to formally do so).
Happy 2014 everyone! I successfully finished my 30 years of Capcom project! ^^ It's a bit impractical to post all the pictures here, but if you want to see all 30 drawings I made, you can check them out on my deviantArt or my Tumblr.Anyway here's something a little more relevant for this forum, after finishing my project for December and taking a little break over New Years I got back to working on my game project stuff. The genesis for this idea was the idea for a traditional greco-roman wrestler that Judas mentioned earlier. It's definitely taken on a life of its own since, but thanks anyway for that initial spark of inspiration.Name: MilonOrigin: GreeceFighting style: PankrationDesign notes: This character ended up being inspired by heroes and athletes of Ancient Greece, so I wanted to go for a very classical feel. However I also wanted to implement some more modern athletic aspects and try to keep the design from being TOO anachronistic. =PAs always feedback and comments are welcome
Thanks for your comments I've started taking a bunch of notes about design, game systems, and ideas for moves for my characters as I'm working on developing the character designs. I will share more details about the characters and their move sets as they become more concrete.
I love artist like you,Diepod,Sean,I and a few other who take there talents to do there own Project!!! its inspiring! keep it up!
i dunno if this has been said yet.. too lazy to read thru all the posts...but ur Ariel the Israeli looks like a buffed , punked up version of Jill Valentine lol. isn't an insult i think it looks awesome.great work ur talented as fuck my friend .
CVS: Thanks! For now I'm mostly taking notes about game design ideas while drawing some concept art, but I hope I can start actual development some time this year. TETSUGA GENSHO: Thanks! Jill was definitely one of many inspirations that went into the design, but frankly I'm a little unhappy that my design ended up so similar. I have some ideas for things I want to change, and she will almost certainly end up with a completely different colour scheme.
Thanks, guys.I'm glad you like it Judas, I was really happy with how it came out myself. Some of the details (specifically the design of his tights) are definitely subject to change, but I'm very happy with the overall look and feel. Interestingly this is the first character where I'd started taking notes on ideas for design and playstyle and stuff before I started drawing something, but even then the character really transformed once I actually started drawing him. He went from being "a wrestler" to more of an idealized Olympian athlete; both giving him a more specific niche in an already grappler-heavy roster, but also I think tapping into cultural iconography better than most of my characters. In my mind he's more of a complete character and less some dude wearing a costume.Generally speaking my latest couple of characters are by far the most interesting to me, and have become the most developed. They're really the ones I'm the most happy with how they're turning out art and design wise too. However some of the older characters like Reina and Ariel I definitely do have new ideas for, and I'm looking forward to revisit their designs accordingly. But it's kinda funny how Niklas and Felipe - who were essentially the genesis for this entire project - now feel so boring and almost pointless to me that I don't know what to do with them. Not that I'm sad about it, I don't have any storylines or anything planned out and it doesn't mean I have to "cut" anything; it just means I'm spoilt for choice in terms of what I want to actually develop. A good place to be in for sure - If every idea would go further into development, that doesn't mean that I only have good ideas so much as it means that I'm doing a really poor job sorting the good ideas from the bad ones. Or that I don't have enough of them to begin with. But I digress. For the record, I'm definitely planning on Norton to be the first character I actually make something out of. I'm designing him to be kind of a shoto-like boss character as I figure that's a good end to start in; he will be designed to have a varied move set to cope with just about any situation meaning I'll get practice creating different kinds of moves etc, but being a boss character I don't have worry about him being overpowered or unbalanced (in the context of the overall roster for my game - which doesn't yet exist, of course - not how he would fare against random MUGEN creations. I want to make a game, not standalone characters). My thinking is that (from a creator's standpoint) it makes sense to start with a character that has a little bit of everything so I can learn about stuff I could then apply to other characters. Being the scatterbrain that I am I want to get on that while I develop more ideas for other characters and stuff... but we'll see. I'm in pre-production mode and expect it to remain that way for a good while still, I hope to be able to start developing something tangible this year but who knows. I'm actually just now starting a full time job after a long period of unemployment so if anything you can probably expect my rate of productivity for personal stuff to drop drastically for the foreseeable future. This project has survived far worse though, so there'll be progress for sure at some point, even if it's slow.
For the time being I'm not looking for contributors or collaborators, but thank you for the offer, I appreciate it.
Found some time to draw tonight... and for some reason I felt inspired to draw Rogue I mostly based the design on my favourite incarnations of the character, with some touches of my own. Added some cowgirl type details, because why not? ^^
