Good GOD. I caught the major references in that trailer, but I didn't realize that every single minor pose and unimportant movement in the damned game is evidently based on some specific panel. Even the finger positions match, for crying out loud.

....welp. If this ends up not being released in the states for whatever reason, I know what the second game I've ever been pushed into importing is going to be. I doubt it will be anywhere near as readily localized as Max Anarchy is, but uh.... I don't really care. Haha.

orrrrr we can just give it back to dimps.

I'm all for dimps, but one try to do a game would be worth it. Hell, I want another Super tournament type fighter.

Quote

Famitsu has an updated preview of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle this week. All Star Battle is the new PS3 action fighter from Namco Bandai and Naruto developer CyberConnect2. It's not to be confused with Capcom's remaster of the classic arcade fighting game.

Here's a bit of what's revealed in the feature:

The game will have a character count at the level one would expect of a general fighting game
There will be a story mode of a different nature than normal
There won't be quick timer events
Some complained that the sound effects in the game's reveal trailer were soft. The final version will have proper sound effects.

One of the shot with Gold Experience (behind Giorno's knee) also shows what seems to be a counter for Sex Pistols' 6 bullets, so he's most likely getting a gameplay revolving around keeping track of all of them, at least.
Also PV2 coming for TGS2012, plus 4 playable characters (from the first announcement), apparently. Probably announcement for Giorno, Mista, Polnareff and Kakyoin as well.

... I was counting the characters a bit back when I was reading all 8 parts, realistically I'd expect 20 to 25 characters, ideally I'd look forward to a little over 30, and if they really want to go full force it might reach 40.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

I'll admit I didn't notice Kakyoin and Polnareff chilling down there in the corner.

The only official word I can find on roster size so far is "beyond what you would expect".  I've heard the specific number 50 being thrown around but I can't find a source for it.

Mista! Honestly, I'm a bit surprised to see him, Polnareff, and Kakyoin before the other leads. I'd have expected the titular characters to be shown first, but whatever. Still good to know that it's more than just a Dissidia 2-from-each-arc setup with nothing but primary protagonist vs. primary antagonist pairings. I was wondering when some news might drop on this, since the last we heard was the bit about nixing QTEs.

Come on, Jolyne and Josuke. I know you'll both be in, but I want to see you in action. BAD. Still curious about Dio and his various incarnations, too. Stone mask vampire aristocrat WRYYYYYY versus time-stopping, steamroller-dropping WRYYYYYY. Oh my glob.

Waiting for this, I hope Dio will be playable from the beginning, gonna throw some road rollers out there :D
P.S. even if it will be a PS3 exclusive - I own ps3 so no matter, what I'm really wondering is if it's gonna be japanese version only. I hope they will make a EU or USA version (and they didn't confirm any of these now right?)

well do keep in mind the old fighting game had a lot of weird choices too; not sure if anybody expected choices like chaka, kahn and devo (although they're certainly appreciated)

also i hope jacket dio is playable here

Didn't Wham! already confirm that, though?  He isn't Cars.

And I stand by Jolyne making or breaking the team's graphics department.  Stone Free will either look incredible, or like garbage.

the pillar men in general (santana, wham, cars and ac/dc) are pretty much main antagonists of that part

But you can't deny Cars was their boss.  When they talk up a guy as thoroughly as this you know he's the big bad.

Oh well, I guess Dissidia had its fair share of not-quite-big-bads as well.
Hibernating.
Or maybe it's the other way around.

I'm pretty sure that Wham was the boss but he gets betrayed by Cars. So Wham was the boss but Cars ended up being the main antagonist, if that makes sense.

When Cars, Wham and ACDC come out of the pillars, Wham gets in Cars' shadow and Cars reacts, then Wham says "forgive me, lord Cars" so Cars was most likely the boss of the group, and Wham was "the dragon". There's also the deal with the number of horns underlining their rank, isn't there ? And it said Cars had the highest numbers while Santana was the lowest.

Ah, I stand corrected. I had to double check (It's been 10 years since I read part 2) since I completely forgot about the last volume's flashback where they explain how Cars created the masks.
...And Cars' mask was the top one in the pillar too, and yes, the horns were also part of the hierarchy.

It has gameplay infos about chain beat, easy beat, original combo, stand rush, stage gimmick to trap the opponent... Getting off work so I'll try and translate some of it in an hour or two. Also Gold Experience Requiem.

      Posted: September 12, 2012, 09:03:45 pm
> Each character has a different battle style
During battle, change style with the style button - using a different style per character. Jotaro pulls out his stand, Joseph channels Hamon. Designed to make the best of the specialty of each character.

> Different gauges on the screen
Life gauge, guard gauge, and heart heat gauge (read power gauge) (HH gauge) - which allows various unique actions. Lv1 is a Heart Heat Attack, Lv2 is Great Heat Attack. Yet another gauge on top of the heart heat gauge is specific to the character. For Joseph, several successful counters will boost the power of his Hamon attacks. It's made to fit the characteristics of the character. (NB : in the screenshots with Joseph, it's the scarf symbol with a number, which Jotaro doesn't have)
Jotaro's HH Attack is Oraoraoraora, and his GH Attack is "you pissed me off". It uses manga-like panels in the visuals.

> Stylish move
Guarding with proper timing gives a dodge with a stylish pose. It takes off some of your guard gauge, but you take no damage. A chance for counter.

> Break the opponent's state of mind with a taunt
Taunts takes off some of the opponent's HH gauge. Taunting a downed opponent gives a stylish animation. (see Jotaro's "fixing his cap" shot after he has blown away the opponent)

> Chain Beat
Light-medium-heavy chain. E.g. L-L-L-M-M-H.

> Easy Beat
For people who can't pull complicated combos. Tap the Light attack with good timing to get a combo into a HH Attack. For beginners.

> Wide range of combo with "crazy cancel"
For advanced players, consume a fixed amount of HH gauge to cancel the end of aspecial (with a stiff timing) to lengthen your combo. Cancel a whiffed special to counter a counter, cancel a combo for a finish, cancel a combo into another combo... Anything you want.

> Stand rush
Stand users with Stand turned on can use the style button for a Stand rush : the character can attack at the same time as his Stand. Consumes HH Gauge.

> Catch your opponent in a trap with stage gimmick
The Cairo stage is the first publicly revealed, but all stages have a stage gimmick. Screenshot shows the arena from Joseph vs Wham fight having the vampire horses and cart run like in the manga ; Cairo has the politician with his car which Dio hijacked. Last screenshot shows a silent and ominous Rome from part 5 but doesn't say what the gimmick is (ominous <=> Silver Chariot Requiem ? The poisonous Stand I don't remember that was paired with the one diving in the rocks ?)

Then confirms Giorno, Mista, Kakyoin and Polnareff with infos on each.

Does this mark it as a new post ?

Giorno's Gold Experience is a short range power type, has a special "be born... life..." pulling himself up a tree, can start a combo. HHA is "pain is coming round", opponent hit by GE has his senses go haywire. GHA is "it's the end for endlessness", he hits himself with the arrow to pull GERequiem, do his moves change ?

Mista's special "I'll drill that one in you", Mista keeps his opponent in range with his gun. GHA is "this is my true resolve", Sex Pistols changes the trajectory of his bullets.

Kakyoin is long range, special is "How's this" with Hierophant turning into a rope to strike, HHA is "I'll punish you" attacking with Hierophant with a smile, GHA is 20m Emerald Splash (wide range splash)

Polnareff's special is Skewering punishment, toying with the opponent with high speed thrusts. HHA is throwing off his armor, speed up in exchange for defense ; GHA is "it did 'whoosh'" (uh...) speed giving afterimages, opponent hit by that will do "whoosh".
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.
