I just switched to the Safari browser on my Vista. I found it after i installed iTunes and wanted to see what it was and to my surprise it was a browser and its pretty cool! It has a nice stylish design and everything performs so fluidly. I like it better than Internet Explorer already. The only thing i hate is that i cant play yahoo radio on it. I guess you cant have everything, eh?

Who else has Safari?

I do on Mac.

I use Firefox on both, though. It is superior.

Care to explain?

1. I don't buy into over rated stuff. This is why i refuse to like Halo as well.
2. It felt to similar to IE.
3. Some of the stuff i do isn't supported in Firefox.
4. The 4 is a lie. Remember that.

Fuck yes it is awesome. It enables you to DL stuff via torrents, much like BitTorrent
Slow as hell, not to mention a lot of useless features such as the one above are enabled by default. Hate it. Can't see why people like it at all.

If I wanted to download torrents, I'd get a torrent client such as uTorrent or Azureus. If you argue, "BUT-BUT IT'S NOT BUILT INTO THE BROWSER!!!" allow me to direct you to this which I found in like 2 seconds by clicking "Get Extensions" in the Add-ons menu.

I'm not sure how to respond to this one, but I have to say I disagree with you saying Firefox is overrated.

2. It felt to similar to IE.
Again, care to expand on this? I can't see how it feels ANYTHING like IE, and I've been a Firefox user since 2003 IIRC.

Such as?

As if your vague arguments weren't enough to make me question whether or not you should be taken seriously.

I used Opera for years (from Opera 7 up to 9.5.) but i gotta say, it sucks as torrents manager.

however, the "click and go" feature is awesome + speed dial (which is quite recent... it was intrdoced on 9.2) make for one of the best internet surfing.

and it allows skins, which is incredibly handy if you use Windowblinds and others GUI's to replace the default one.

it also has "mouse gestures" that allows you to surf without clicking basically. I'm not much of a fan, but Val (our beloved admin) can't live without it.

currently, i'm trying Chrome.

You can also get mouse gestures for Firefox. I use Mouse Gestures Redox and it's one of my favorite add-ons for Firefox. I didn't upgrade to Firefox 3 just so I could still use it.

I think this recurring discussion is one of the few things we are serious about. That, and masturbation discussion. Yessir.

Opera's standard skin used to be very overloaded, having the sidebar enabled by default and mostly requiring the user to get rid of a bunch of stuff to have a decent interface. Also used to be shareware, so I can understand how people might have gotton a bad first impression.

arguing about speed is a very subjective experience, especially the redraw delay opera has enabled by default is perceived by some as slowness, but it isn't. that second of delay gives time to hit escape or a different link when mis-clicked, and less redraws until the page is there in its entirety.

However, in present versions of opera, features that others don't have and that work out of the box:
- mouse gestures
- decent keyboard navigation (!!)
- great zoom (I think it's in FF3 now, not sure)

I will also mention that Opera is (in my experience) the least frustating browser for web programming. HTML, CSS and JS all work as expected, less hidden surprises than FF, and WAY less than IE of course :)

First to pass ACID3, btw ;)

tony: actually, they allow browsing without keyboard, not without clicks. I'm fine with either only keyboard (preference by now!) or only mouse, but switching both all the time or moving the mouse to a specific position and click it to execute functionality (ie, clicking buttons) is something I find extremely annoying.

Huh, I'm kind of a fanboy. On the other hand, if Chrome gets some more interface features I will most certainly use it soon :)

\\ edit

damn, another unwanted tl;dr post. sorry. >_<

You know what's overated? Oxygen! everyone is always talking about how useful it is and how you need it to survive you should totally stop using it, really.

I used to love Firefox, but I had to kill it (some stuff here and there) and switched to Opera and Ilike it so far, but I'm trying Firefox 3.0 and it uses less memory plus other things. I also have my eyes on Google Chrome.

And +1 to what [Kira] said about Torrents.

Funny, same reason I hate Firefox (And Opera doesn't have that many "useless" features enabled by default, just that one sidebar Valodim mentioned and minor stuff you have to configure once)...plus you know 99% of the guys that use Firefox overload it with extensions, so blah...Like that one, extremely useless SNES/Nes emulator one. (Why not use a regular emulator? You either you browse or play, not both)

I agree with that though, only a retard would use browsers to manage torrents, Opera has a nice chat function though, great for connecting to an IRC channel fast, download whatever you need and disconnect.
