Hello! This is my second character for Mugen. It is Mario but with sprites and moves from the pirated NES game Kart Fighter, but also a few new moves. He is a 3 button character similar to my Tails character. If anyone has Special or Super suggestions, please tell me.


 


What has been done:
-Super Jump
-3 Button Character
-Regular throw and back throw
-Fireball Special (Light, Medium, Strong) D,DF,F,Atk
Mario shoots a fireball. Light has fast start-up, but weakest. Medium has slower start-up, but stronger. Strong is a fireball that bounces off the ground once and then goes up, so it can be used as an anti-air.
-6 palletes
-Super Smash Bros. Brawl Voices

I don't know about your level of coding, but here are a few things to make the character more original, and you would learn stuff in the process I guess :

- Instead of going for regular fireballs, make the fireballs rebound on the ground like they do in regular Mario games.
- Maybe a mushroom super were he gets bigger, this would make him change palette (use of remappal in Mugen 1.0), and be stronger.
- He could get Vega/M.Bison's D,U+k move where he jumps on the opponent to hit him. Or maybe Mario could hurt the opponent just by jumping on them, as in original games.

Well, yeah, try to gather various ideas from other Mario characters and the Mario games themselves, in order to make the character more unique. The spriteset is pretty simple, but there's always place for originality. ;)

The hitsparks could be coins, but I don't know how annoying the sounds would get.

Also, can I make palettes for that thing? It looks like a blast. :P

I think you are confused. This is in the Projects section, not the Releases section, so he can't be released yet.

Yeah, it happens man. Same happened to me when I was working with Kage from Virtua Fighter.

By the way... Did you get those sprites from the Open Source Sprites section?

I think I remember that I searched for Kart Fighter Mario sprites on Google and saw a Mugen Guild link.

Why not make two versions of it: original (faithful to the source counterpart) and arranged (with suggestions given to you by anyone posting in this thread)?
My Mugen Wish List would include protagonists, mascots and other iconic characters with everything they have brought straight from their source with little or no editing.
