So I've been hearing that there's a good method to ripping sprites from XIII. But it leaves blur, Now as far as i've actually seen to prove this, there's been a beta of Saiki released. So I saw first hand the blurring, Now if anybody decides it'd be cool to like.. Make a shared, but blurred pallet, I'd be happy to pallet the sprites all over and make the blur "disappear" by shrinking the pallet into the colors seen in the officially released sprites. The end result will look something like

This.

As you can see, the body looks nice, but the hair's a bit off. If anybody would care to get the sprites back to me, I'll clean them up and fix up all I can, and return them accurate to the game.

Also..... Hi.

Is it really like that, or you resized it a bit? Because there are some pixels that seem to be in the wrong position.

Nope. Just simply applied a pallet, nothing else. I'll post another version accurate to the shades in the game, or try. I'm about to redo a few sprites.

I mean, i'm sure there will be a better ripping method for cleaner sprites eventually. But this is all I can do till then.

I've used this tech on arcana heart characters in the past to make them into sprites.
It's only really useful if you either adore the art and don't want the quality damaged, or if you're a sprite editor such as myself.

People will be able to rip pixel perfect sprites in just a few, don't bother. I mean this in a positive way, not to discourage you - Save your time, have a margarita, and we'll discuss that character in a couple of months.

well I've been doing this method before it works but still leaves a lot of junk and still need cleaning but it is a lot better then doing it by hand still what Ive seen with blurry images if it has a extra color it might mess it up if you trying to reduce it to 16 bit unless you have the the right colors it end up removing them and then touching it up will be needed ya have to get in the right pallet and that some doesn't all ways work depending on how blurry how good the colors are :P trust me i'ev done this with gundam battle assault sprite with a lot of methods using a lot of blur types I get a lot of random or sometimes ok results if I don't got the right set of colors so you can't always apply it to everything :P
Nothing can stop me now. form setting things right!

Well, it could still be touched up, But yeah, If there's a way for clean rips. Then I won't bother.

But I wonder why the hell SNK would blur their art in the first place. It looked horrible in game. Clean, clear art is nice in a battle, or was that the only method they had for resizing the sprites to get them on full-screen HD? Because, if i recall other fighters, such as AH or touou, then resized, they didn't really blur quality, which was still a lot nicer.

I guess there's no way to say unless we see it played on console or arcade in person. But oh well, thanks for the advice. I'll look forward to seeing a proper ripping method.
